Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,
As the weather cools and the holiday season approaches, we want to take a moment to remind our school community about the importance of safety—both in and out of school. Here are this month’s key safety reminders and updates:
🚸 Traffic & Drop-Off Safety
- Please follow all posted signs and staff directions in the car line.
- Avoid using cell phones while driving in school zones.
- For walkers: always look both ways before crossing and wear reflective gear in the darker mornings.
🔥 Fire Safety Awareness
November is a great time to check smoke detectors at home!
- Review your family fire escape plan.
- Practice “Stop, Drop, and Roll.”
- Never leave candles or space heaters unattended.
At school, we will conduct our monthly fire drill this month to ensure everyone knows what to do in an emergency.
❄️ Cold Weather & Seasonal Safety
- Dress warmly: layers, hats, and gloves help prevent cold-related illnesses.
- Encourage frequent handwashing to help prevent seasonal colds and flu.
💛 Wellness & Emotional Safety
Safety isn’t just physical—it’s emotional, too.
- Encourage open conversations at home about feelings and friendships.
- Remember: kindness and inclusion help make our school a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
Thank you for helping us keep a safe and caring environment for all!
Stay safe and enjoy a wonderful November!

Reading at Home
When reading with your kindergartener, talk about the story together! Ask questions like, “Who are the characters?” and “What happened first, next, and last?” Help your child make connections by asking, “Does this story remind you of something that happened to you?” Encourage them to use reading strategies look at the pictures for clues, sound out words, and think about what would make sense. These small conversations build strong comprehension skills and help your child become a thoughtful reader!
Friendship Day
Parents can help young children learn to be good friends by talking about simple acts of kindness sharing, taking turns, and using kind words. Ask how others might feel, praise friendly behavior, and use stories or quick role-plays to show what good friends do. These small conversations help your student build caring relationships.

Thank you to all of you for making our day so special! We truly appreciate you and the work that you do with our kindergartners. We could see how each room put thought and care into their work. Our Brickies from the Start team is very impressed.
Picking just one of you was almost impossible for us. In the end, we had to choose Mrs. Meyer's class and their "Bear World". We especially loved the excitement of the students as they showed us all of their creations. We truly wish we could choose you all. Your ideas and creativity are amazing!
