2025 Field Day - A Day To Remember 😃
What an incredible day we had at Field Day 2025!
Our event kicked off with an energetic school-wide assembly for grades K-5, where we set expectations, outlined the day's schedule and introduced our exciting new station layout.
Throughout the day, classes rotated from one station to another, participating in a variety of activities including the Hooper Relay, Cup Stacking Relay, Potato Sack Relay, Gaga Ball Station, Egg and Spoon Relay, the Parachute, Fill the Bucket challenge, and our brand-new obstacle course that was an absolute hit! The joy on our scholars' faces made the day special.
We would like to express our gratitude to the following:
Mr. O'Brien for his behind-the-scenes work that ensured everything operated flawlessly throughout the day.
Mr. Moroney provided support that kept everything running smoothly.
Our dedicated staff for their commitment to their assigned roles and collaborative spirit.
Lisa handled the t-shirt logistics and Mrs. Ripegno provided the technical support.
Finally, huge thanks to our amazing PTA for their support – from providing a delicious lunch and funding our obstacle course to managing all the logistical details that made our event run like clockwork.
Field Day 2025 demonstrated that it truly takes a village to create this level of excitement, safety and fun. Our JC village is the place to be!

Book of the Month 📖 - Eyes that Kiss in the Corners
In May, we honor Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, celebrate Grandparents Day on Friday, May 9, and recognize Mother’s Day—a perfect time to share Eyes that Kiss in the Corners, a radiant picture book that celebrates culture, family, and the beauty found in our differences.
This lyrical story follows a young Taiwanese girl who notices that her eyes look different from those of her classmates. While they have big, round eyes with long lashes, hers “kiss in the corners and glow like warm tea.” At first, she wishes to look like her peers—until she comes to see that her eyes are just like her mother’s, her little sister’s, and her Amah’s (grandmother’s). Her eyes hold stories from generations before her—stories filled with love, tradition, and pride.
Written by Joanna Ho and illustrated by Dung Ho, Eyes that Kiss in the Corners is a tender and empowering tribute to self-love, cultural heritage, and the bonds between mothers, daughters, and grandmothers. It’s a book that helps young readers see the beauty in themselves and the strength in where they come from.
As we read, students are invited to reflect on what makes them special and the meaningful connections they share with the women in their lives.
