Hello Bulldog Families.

Happy last day of the 2024-2025 school year! We are honored to work through the marathon of a school year with your students. The end of a school year is bittersweet. We are all excited for a summer break while feeling a bit emotional as we send off our seniors!

You will notice our Class of 2025 photo in this newsletter. This captures some of our 176 students that graduated as the Batavia High School Class of 2025. The commencement ceremony held on Monday, May 19th, was touching as families had the opportunity to celebrate their graduates. We are certain that this class will go on to do some special things!

As we head into summer, I wanted to take a moment to let everyone know how to reach us throughout June and July. Access to our office staff will be limited the beginning of June, so feel free to reach out to Mr. Buis or me throughout June via email. Our guidance counselors, Mrs. Grooms and Mrs. Poling will be communicating throughout the summer via email. It’s reasonable to expect approximately a week’s turnaround in email once you reach out. Most of our staff will be out-of-the-office throughout July. However, we will be fully staffed beginning August 1st. We would like our staff to have the opportunity to have their vacations throughout the summer, so please be patient as you wait for a response.

We are pleased to announce that we are adding additional support to BHS next fall. Mr. Joe Moorehead, current high school science teacher, will be serving as Dean of Students for the 2025-2026 school year. Mr. Moorehead will be an additional layer of support for our students, and we can’t wait to kick off the new year with him!

This will be our last newsletter until we get ready to begin the new school year. You can expect the next newsletter to come out on Friday, August 8, 2025.

I hope you all have a wonderful, safe summer. Please reach out if you need anything throughout the next few months.

In service to our Bulldogs.

The FAFSA is STILL Available!!!!

IMPORTANT for ANY student continuing their education after high school!!!!

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2025-26 academic year is up and running! Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are at least eligible for student loans! Families who want to start filling out the FAFSA now can start the process at studentaid.gov. If you need assistance, visit itsforyou.org and scroll to the “Looking for FAFSA help?” section for details. Let’s ensure no money is left on the table!

Updated Scholarship List:

Another option to look at opportunities for additional funding for college is by applying for scholarships. BHS Guidance updates this list regularly as new scholarships are shared with us. Here is a link to the most recent list that is shared with all seniors. There are A LOT of new scholarships that have been added!

LINKED UP Connect

We would like for ALL Juniors and Seniors to have accounts with Linked Up Connect as soon as possible. Parents, please sign the Linked Up Connect permission form located in Final Forms. As soon as we have the signature we can begin the process of giving you access to many opportunities such as experienceships, job shadowing, and potential internships and apprenticeship opportunities. Please see Mrs. Laudenberger or Mrs. Kelley if you have any questions.
