We have an exciting week ahead! On Tuesday, we will enjoy a Boosterthon Assembly featuring Parker “Basketball” Jones. This promises to be a high-energy and engaging event for both students and staff.
On Wednesday, students in grades 3–5 will participate in the Spring Panorama Survey. This survey provides valuable feedback to help us continue to strengthen our school community. Teachers will have a list of any students who have been opted out.
We are also excited that some of our Wessagusset students will be participating in Unified Game Day on Thursday, April 30th. This will be a fun and memorable experience!

Dear Wessagusset Families,
What a beautiful weekend! Even better, the week ahead looks just as promising.
Our third graders completed ELA MCAS last week. We know this was their first experience with MCAS, and with that can come some nerves, but they rose to the occasion, worked hard, and gave their very best effort. We are proud of you, Third Grade friends!
Wessagusset is also preparing for a shift to shared devices. After successful pilot programs in other schools in the district earlier this year, the district will move forward with shared devices in Kindergarten through Grade 2 following the April break. The pilot schools saw increased student-to-student engagement and a decrease in device damage, both great outcomes for our students and schools.
.
Families os students in Grades 1 and 2, please return your child’s Chromebook charger to school by Thursday, April 16th. Our Technology Department will be setting up device carts over the break so we are ready to go when students return.
Fifth Grade Families, please mark your calendars! Our Move-Up Ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 25th at 10:00 a.m. This is a special opportunity to celebrate our fifth graders as they prepare for their transition to Chapman Middle School for sixth grade.
Looking ahead to next year, we will begin the student placement process in the coming weeks. Family input is part of this work. If you would like to share information about your child’s learning style and the type of environment in which they are most successful, please complete the Google Form linked below. As a reminder, we are not able to honor requests for specific teachers.
Our teachers and staff are thoughtful and intentional in creating balanced classrooms where all students feel supported and connected. Thank you for your continued partnership!
We hope you have a wonderful week!
Kind regards,
Mrs. Jango, Principal
Mrs. Reinhart, Assistant Principal

Dear Wessagusset Families,
We hope you had a wonderful long weekend and were able to enjoy some special time with your family.
Thank you to our families for your strong participation in conferences. Students are most successful when there is a strong partnership between home and school, and we truly appreciate your time, collaboration, and support.
Our Family Picture Wall continues to grow! Thank you to everyone who has already sent in photos. We encourage all families to continue sharing so we can celebrate and represent our entire school community.
Our fourth graders completed their ELA MCAS testing this past Tuesday, great job to all of our students for their effort and focus! Grade three students will be testing this week on Wednesday and Friday. After Friday, we will have a break from MCAS testing until the math assessments begin in May.
April Fool’s Day brought lots of laughter and fun throughout the building! Students enjoyed sharing jokes with classmates and teachers. One particularly creative moment included a fourth grade class “hiding” the chairs from a second grade classroom. Thankfully, all were returned!
On Thursday, we gathered for an All-School Assembly in the cafeteria focused on learning how to 'right wrongs.' Our fifth grade student leaders did an outstanding job demonstrating real-life scenarios through engaging skits, helping to reinforce this important skill for all students. Staff members joined in the fun with a lively Minute to Win It challenge, we celebrated March birthdays, and we were excited to share that Wess, Guss, and Tess each found new homes!
We are also proud to announce that students have earned their next All-School Reward, reaching an impressive 61 class rewards so far this year. To celebrate, we will have Favorite Color Day on Friday, April 10th. Students are invited to wear their favorite color to school.
We hope you have a wonderful week!
Kind regards,
Mrs. Jango, Principal
Mrs. Reinhart, Assistant Principal

MCAS Testing Tips for Families
MCAS testing is an opportunity for students to show all they have learned this year! Your support at home can make a big difference in helping your child feel confident, calm, and ready to do their best.
- Prioritize a Good Night’s Sleep - A consistent bedtime routine helps students feel well-rested and ready to focus.
- Start the Day with a Healthy Breakfast - A balanced breakfast (protein + whole grains) gives students the energy they need to stay focused.
- Be On Time - Arriving to school on time helps students feel settled and ready to begin the day without stress.
- Offer Encouragement - Simple reminders like “Do your best” and “Take your time” can boost confidence and reduce anxiety.
- Limit Screen Time Before Bed - Less screen time at night helps students fall asleep more easily and wake up refreshed.
- Keep Mornings Calm - A relaxed, predictable morning routine sets a positive tone for the day.
- Stay Hydrated - Don't forget a water bottle because drinking water hydrates the brain and helps students stay focused throughout testing
Focus Treats
Families may send in up to 5 pieces of gum or hard candy for their child on each day of MCAS testing. Please place items in a ziplock type baggie and ensure they are unwrapped ahead of time. This helps minimize distractions and supports a focused testing environment for all students.
Cell Phones and Smartwatches
Cell phones and smartwatches are not allowed during MCAS testing. Students will place these items in their backpacks prior to testing, where they will remain for the duration of the day.
Smartwatches have become increasingly popular, and we want to remind families that both cell phones and smartwatches should be turned off upon arrival to school and kept in backpacks until students leave campus each day, not just during MCAS testing.
Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a focused and distraction-free learning environment.
We are very proud of our students and all the hard work they do every day. MCAS is just one way for them to show what they know. With your support and encouragement, we know they will shine!
Survey Reminder & Opt Out Option
This is a reminder that students will be participating in a Panorama survey again this Spring. The survey asks students to reflect on topics such as emotion regulation, social awareness, supportive relationships, feelings, and belonging, and takes about 20 minutes to complete. Since opt-out forms were collected in the Fall, no further action is needed unless your preference has changed. If you would now like your child to opt out, please complete this Google Form by Friday, April 17th.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support,
Tanna Jango
