OC Elementary Principal's Update

The end of the semester is upon us! As we prepare for winter assessments, we kindly ask for your support at home. Please help ensure your child gets an adequate amount of sleep and eats a good, nutritious breakfast so they are well-rested, energized, and ready to do their best on testing days. Your partnership makes a big difference!

As colder weather arrives, please remember that students will go outside for recess as long as the “real feel” temperature is 15°F or above. We kindly ask that your child comes to school with hats, gloves, and a warm coat whenever possible. If your child is in need of a heavier winter coat, mittens, or a hat, please contact the office.

If there is snow on the ground, students must have proper snow gear (coat, gloves, hat, snow pants, and boots) in order to play in the snow. Students who do not have appropriate snow gear will need to remain on the cleared cement area during recess to keep their clothing dry. Please note that students will not be allowed to call home for dry clothing, so please plan accordingly and send necessary winter items with your child.

If we need to delay the start of school or close due to weather conditions, we will communicate through our One Call system and local news stations. If you are not currently receiving One Call notifications, please contact the office so we can ensure you are added to the call list.

A huge thank you to our amazing PTO for helping cover the expenses of this special event. We are also incredibly proud of our Student Leadership Team for leading our Charlie Brown–style Thanksgiving Feast with such enthusiasm and teamwork!

Congratulations to 6th grader, Sutton Hartwell, on being named November's overall Student of the Month! Sutton is a shining example of leadership, character, and dedication within our school community. We are proud to call her an Oakland-Craig Knight!

If your child is a rider, they must be picked up by 3:30 PM on the north side of the school.
If they are not picked up by that time, they may be picked up at the playground, but not until 3:40 PM, after the buses have safely left the south side of the building. For everyone’s safety, please do not interfere with bus dismissal. Thank you for helping us keep our procedures smooth and secure!

December 18 - Preschool Holiday Program (10:00 & 2:00)

December 19 - 2:20 Dismissal

December 20- January 5 - Winter Break
