A Note From Mrs. Galarneau
Have you ever wondered what it actually takes for a child to learn to read?
Join Farmington Public Schools for our first Families Read event on Tuesday, October 20, from 6:00–7:00 p.m. in the Farmington High School Lecture Hall!
Over the past several years, our teachers and staff have spent a tremendous amount of time learning about the science of reading and what research tells us about how children develop into skilled readers and writers. We're excited to share some of that learning with our families!
Our first session will explore the guiding question:
"What does it actually mean to learn to read?"
Whether you're curious about how reading develops or want to better understand the approaches we're using in our classrooms, we'd love for you to join us.
The event is FREE, and childcare will be available!
We hope to see you Tuesday evening for this opportunity to learn together!
Warmly,
Mrs. Galarneau
Principal

Download Talking Points App To Stay Connected To School
Talking Points is a messaging app that allows for translation into whichever language the receiver of the message prefers. In the past, the parent did not need to have the Talking Points app on their phone. Instead, if the teacher sent a message through their app it would show up as a text message on the receiver's phone. It was simple and so easy!
However, on Oct. 19 Talking Points will be changing their platform. All users (senders and receivers of messages) will need to have the Talking Points app installed on their device. Downloading is easy and it continues to be FREE for everyone. Just go to the app store on your device to download.
Need support with downloading or using the Talking Points app? Watch the video below or reach out directly to your child's teacher.
Volunteers Needed!
We are looking for interested adults to lend an extra set of eyes to our soccer fields during recess! Our goal is to support safe, fair, and competitive play while still letting kids enjoy the game and work through the natural ups and downs of playing together. Volunteers will attend a brief training session (date/times to be determined). If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, please complete our interest form. We’d love to have you join us!

Important Information About Lice, What You Can Do To Avoid It And Treat It
We do not exclude learners from school for lice. However, we do recommend treatment before returning to school. Girls with long hair are recommended to wear their hair in braids or buns to help limit the spread to others.
Please see the infographic below for more information about lice.

Attendance Line Communication
If a student will be absent, a parent/guardian must call North Trail's attendance line at 651-460-1800 prior to 8:45 AM each day of the absence. You can call 24/7 and if no one answers, please leave a message. We ask that parents/guardians provide the reason for the absence at the time they call. If the school does not receive a call from the parent/guardian the day of the absence, the student’s absence is automatically marked as unexcused.
You may also fill absences out using our Student Attendance Form
Student Handbook
Please review the North Trail Student Handbook as a family. Thank you for adhering to our policies and procedures.
