Clyde Erwin Elementary Magnet School of International Studies and Cultural Arts is a K-5 elementary school with an instructional focus in global studies and cultural arts. We are one of two OCS schools with a Dual Language Immersion program for our students and host many international teachers on staff.

A few highlights to share specific to CEEMS are:

  • School wide celebrations and educational opportunities for Hispanic and Jamaican Heritage - more events in the works for the remainder of the year
  • Various student leadership roles available - flag crew, tour guides, event greeters, clean up crew, chicken tenders (help with our four very spoiled chickens), office support, etc
  • High academic and behavioral expectations - EAGLES SOAR
  • Data driven instruction focused on the Common Instructional Framework and Priority Standards for Onslow County Schools
  • Dual Language Immersion program for all grade levels - taught by highly effective, bilingual International teachers
  • Clubs on Early Release days focused on teacher and student interests like Latin Dance, Japanese, Fossils, Trivia Bingo, Colombian Culture Club, Minecraft, Running, etc.
  • Highly effective MTSS process that ensures each student is receiving the academic, social, and behavioral supports they deserve
  • Students are celebrated for academic as well as behavioral choices: Honor Roll, Principal's List, Art, Music, Library, PE, Eagle Pride, Citizenship, and Leadership Awards given each nine weeks
  • Good campus stewardship awards given monthly: Golden Spatula for the cafeteria and Golden Trashcan for the classroom
  • Various community partners: MENAC, Phi Beta Sigma, New River Foundation, Zion Church
  • Partnership with NBMS for Bear Buddies on Early Release Days for our Kindergarten students
  • Newly formed Soaring Eagles Parent Advisory Council - meetings monthly
  • Military Family Life Counselor on staff
  • Adopt a School partnership with HQ Bat 2nd MAR DIV
  • CEEMS exited low performaing status at the end of the 24-25 school year and is well on its way to continuous improvement for years to come

Student selection for enrollment is based on a lottery system that is conducted at the district office. While students who live in the surrounding area are slated to attend CEEMS, many of our students come from this lottery process. There are no interviews or special academic or behavioral requirements to worry about. We believe that every student in OCS deserves an opportunity to learn at one of the finest school on earth!

It is important to act early if you would like this opportunity for your student as the lottery process starts in February for the following school year.

How will my Eagle get to and from school? How will my Eagle get to and from school?

At Clyde Erwin Elementary Magnet School, we have a wide variety of ways our students get to and from school.

  • walkers - students independently walk to and from school
  • walk ups - parents walk their student to the front door in the AM for drop off or pick them up in the media center at the end of the day
  • car rider - see processes below
  • hub bus rider - see schedule below
  • various after or before care programs - see details below

Safety for our students is our #1 priority therefore we have specific guidelines in place for transportion changes and adjustments that are non-negotiable.

Walk up information Walk up information

All walk up parents must park in the parking lot across from the front of the school and wait outside the fence by the front entrance until a staff member comes to signal it is time to move to the side door of the media center. Parents are not permitted to park in the back parking lot and walk through the car rider lane to get to the media center for a walk up student. This is a huge safety issue. Parents are not to be sitting in the playground or under the covered areas during prior to or during dismissal.

See map below. Cars must be parked in the area shown by the red square. Please wait in the area marked by the red line.
