Wiggin Street Parent Update
April 10, 2026
Better Together
Dear Wiggin Street Families,
We are gearing up for our Spring Fun Festival next Friday and are excited to welcome everyone to this special community event. Volunteer sign-up links are included below. While one link is labeled for staff, it is now open to the community. We are grateful to the High School Key Club and Kenyon volunteers who have already filled many spots, but we still need additional support.
Another way to contribute is by donating baked goods for the cafeteria and the 4 Corners game. Additional details about volunteering and donations can be found below.
Mrs. Springer is also busy preparing for our Kโ2 Spring Musicals, which will take place next Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Rosse Hall. Our students are excited to showcase all they have been working on, and we look forward to a wonderful performance.
We are proud to share that Wiggin Street has once again exceeded state standards, earning an overall 5-star rating on the Traditional Report Card for our performance across all five rated components during the 2024โ2025 school year. Be sure to notice the newest banner displayed outside the school office during the Fun Festival.
Our school has also completed the application for the Purple Star Designation. We will be notified of the award later this month, which is recognized as the Month of the Military Child. On April 15, we will celebrate Purple Up Day by wearing purple to show support for military families.
Today, our staff enjoyed an appreciation lunch from the Guelaguetza Street Food Truck, generously provided by Xtreme Air LLC and Knox Foodies. The meal was greatly appreciated and brightened everyoneโs day. We extend our sincere thanks for this thoughtful gesture.
We hope to see you at the Fun Festival next Friday. Please feel free to invite family and friends, as this is a community-wide event.
Best wishes,
Christy Grandstaff
Principal, Wiggin Street Elementary
Thank you!

Spring Fun Festival 2026
Forms were sent home with your child this week for the Fun Festival's pre-sale of game cards and wrist bands. If for some reason, you did not receive a form, feel free to use the information above and write on an envelope containing the money to be sent in with your student.
Desserts Needed:
The 4 Corners Game is always a big hit! Students can win cakes, brownies, cupcakes, and other desserts. These items are greatly needed and can be donated the morning of the 17th, and brought to the office, or students can deliver them to Mrs. Clippinger's room.
We are also in need of the following donations: cookies, brownies, Rice Crispy Treats, etc. for desserts in the cafeteria. Thank you!!!

- Arrive at school on time to avoid feeling rushed
Build confidence with simple practice
- Encourage daily reading (books, articles, or even directions/recipes)
- Have your child explain what they read to build comprehension

Practice test-taking strategies
- Remind your child to read directions carefully

2026-27 Class Lists and Teacher Requests
Creating class lists is a thoughtful process that involves many factors. Our teachers meet with the next grade level team and other staff members who work closely with students to ensure that classes are balanced. Academic needs, social-emotional needs, and peer dynamics are just a few of the considerations used in this process. This work also continues throughout the summer as we become aware of new enrollments. For these reasons, we believe it is best to wait until August to share final class lists.
If you have an educational reason for requesting a teacher, please submit your request in writing by email to me at cgrandstaff@mvcsd.us no later than May 1, 2026. Also, if you know that your child will not be attending Wiggin Street next year, please let us know as soon as possible.
