School 4 Update

Dear School 4 Families,

As you are aware, there was a fire at School 4 that began at approximately 7:45 pm last evening, September 15th. At the time of the incident, members of our facilities team and several construction crews were on-site performing after-hour contracted work. It is important that our families know the roofing construction project was not being worked on during the student school day. Their work takes place after school hours once students have left the building.

As we continue to assess the building and complete the necessary restoration and safety work, School 4 will transition to REMOTE INSTRUCTION beginning Thursday, September 17, 2026 through Monday, September 21, 2026. We will communicate any potential and necessary additional remote instructional days as soon as possible.

We are currently working closely with our educational consultant, insurance company, All Risk Fire Restoration representatives, and other appropriate professionals as we evaluate the building and determine when it is safe and appropriate to return.

There are several factors that are part of this decision. In addition to addressing the specific area impacted by the fire and smoke, we must ensure that important life-safety and communication systems are fully functional before students and staff return to the building. At this time, both our telephone and PA systems have been disabled as a result of the incident.

In order to support remote instruction, families will need to report to School 4 on Thursday, September 17, 2026 to pick up their child's Chromebook and other instructional materials. Printed instructional support resources will be shared to support instruction for Thursday, September 17, 2026. Virtual instruction will begin for all students on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Chromebook and Material Pick-Up:

Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Location: School 4 Bus Loop - side door entrance

Chromebooks and materials will only be released to approved contacts listed in RealTime. Identification will be required at pick-up.

Food Pick Up:

Five days of bulk meals will be distributed to School 4 families on Monday, September 21st from 10 am - 1 pm. Stay tuned for additional details.

Monday, October 12th

School 4 Open House:

Our Open House will be rescheduled.

It is very important that no member of our community interferes with the identified construction areas established around the building. Please know that our priority is to return our students and staff to School 4 as soon as we can safely do so. We will continue to provide families with updates as additional information becomes available.
