LP School District Newsletter
May 1, 2026
Dear Bulldogs,
Next week, May 4-8, is Teacher Appreciation Week. Though we are thankful for our wonderful teachers every week, Teacher Appreciation Week is another great opportunity to express our gratitude. Please join me in thanking our Lester Prairie teachers for the exceptional care and consistency they provide that makes a real difference in the lives of our students. Every day, they support each and every student and challenge them to grow.
Thank you, teachers!
With gratitude,
Supt. Melissa Radeke

PRINCIPAL LEE:
Importance of Playing Outdoors
To me, one of the best signs of spring is seeing kids outside playing, laughing, and enjoying time together. Outdoor play is an important part of a child’s growth and development. It gives children the opportunity to move their bodies, build strength, and improve coordination while taking a healthy break from screens. Time spent outdoors encourages creativity, problem-solving, and independence as children make decisions and interact with their peers through play. Fresh air and physical activity can improve focus, reduce stress, and support emotional well-being. Children who spend time outside often return to school feeling refreshed, energized, and ready to learn. Spring reminds us of the importance of balancing learning with time to explore, play, and simply enjoy being a kid.

ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR:
One of the things I love about living in Minnesota is the changing of the seasons. As a general rule, most people don’t like change but I for one, try to embrace change like I do the changing seasons. The activities department will be going through a change this summer. Last spring I was forced to change our registration and scheduling platform due to a buyout and takeover of the previous company we used. This spring, we have decided to switch to another platform. I should add that our conference as well as about 90% of the schools in Minnesota also decided to change to this platform. BOUND is the name of our new platform and you will start to see it appear on our school website around mid July. BOUND offers so much more in their platform, not just from an AD’s standpoint, but also from the parent and community standpoint. I will be sending out messages in the next few weeks to lay out some of the changes that you will see moving forward. Until then, embrace the change.

TEACHING AND LEARNING:
Greetings everyone,
Our Phase I teaching staff have officially finished their LETRs training!! After two years of training, educators have finished the training on the Science of Reading and are looking forward to the next phase - implementation! We look forward to continuing this work of implementing the science of reading in the classroom and cannot wait to see how it impacts student learning outcomes. As we move forward, our AVID class is also working towards the final end of the year items and look forward to continuing AVID into next school year. As we continue on our journey this school year, students have been working hard on their end of the year testing and we look forward to using the results of testing, to inform our teaching practices moving forward into the new school year! Thanks for all that you do at home, and as we reflect on this school year, it has been an honor to serve in this role of supporting students and educators.
Sincerely,
Mr. Ryan Sinda
COUNSELOR CORNER:
Finishing the Year Strong
As we enter the final month of the school year, it’s a great time to encourage students to finish strong. While this time of year can feel busy and sometimes overwhelming, it’s also an important opportunity for students to stay focused, reflect on their growth, and take pride in all they’ve accomplished. Every assignment, effort, and positive choice still matters.
Families play an important role in helping students stay motivated and supported during these last weeks. One of the most impactful things you can do is simply start a conversation. Taking time to check in helps students reflect, feel heard, and stay engaged.
Here are a few conversation starters you can use at home:
- “What are you most proud of from this school year?”
- “What was the biggest challenge you faced, and how did you handle it?”
- “Is there anything you’d like to improve or finish strong on before the year ends?”
- “What goals do you have for the rest of the school year?”
- “What are you looking forward to this summer or next year?”
Encouraging students to reflect on both their successes and challenges helps build confidence, resilience, and a sense of ownership over their learning.
Please feel free to reach out if your student needs additional support. Thank you for working with us to help all students end the year feeling proud, confident, and ready for what’s next!
