Summer Edition

Summer Feeding Program

Scott 2 is once again offering a summer feeding program for all kids age 18 and under.

The program will provide lunch and breakfast every Monday through Friday from May 30th until August 4th.

Daily pick up is available via door #8 at SMS or at the front of Vienna-Finley Elementary.

Summer School

Scottsburg Middle School is again offering summer school from Wednesday, May 31st through Tuesday, June 20th for current 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The hours are 9:00 a.m. until noon.

Transportation is not provided.

Lunch will be available in the cafeteria at the end of the instruction time each day.

If you are interested in having your child(ren) participate in this opportunity, please call the SMS office.

Empower's End of Year Celebration

Empower invites all Scott County middle and high school students to their end of the year celebration, which will be held at The Rock shelter house on June 1st from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.

21st Century Scholar Program

Indiana offers the 21st Century Scholars program to eligible students each year. In order to participate, families must sign up by June 30th following their 8th grade year.

Reminder about Sora

Even though all SMS library books were due a couple weeks ago, students still have the opportunity to access books via our eLibrary, Sora.

The SMS media center offers great ebooks, audiobooks, and e-magazines in our Sora library that never closes.

In order to access Sora, students can go to https://soraapp.com or can download the Sora app to their mobile devices to continue reading all summer long.

Sports Physicals

Scott 2 has partnered with Scott Memorial Hospital to provide free sports physicals from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 2nd in the SMS west gym.

Scott 2 Summer Sports Camps/Clinics

Several Scott 2 teams are offering summer sports camps/clinics for students from late May through mid July.

Warrior Football Camp

The Warrior football camp is Tuesday May 30th through Friday, June 2nd

Time: 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. each day (Arrive at 4:30 p.m. on Day 1)

Location: Scottsburg High School

Grades: Kindergarten - 8th Grade (Grade for Fall '23)

Cost:

FREE if you've registered for the Future Warrior Youth Football Program (or are in Grades 7-8 attending SMS).
FUTURE WARRIOR FOOTBALL REGISTRATION (Grades K-6th - Fall ‘23)
$50 if you have not signed up for youth football. Cash or Checks to Scottsburg Football.
Registration will be on-site only.

Purpose:

To help facilitate the overall development of the Scottsburg Warrior Football Program and to improve tackling, blocking, catching, ball handling, defensive fundamentals, and overall knowledge of the game. There will be an increased focus on speed enhancement.

Instruction is by Scottsburg High School, Middle School, and Youth League Coaches.

Players will be ability and age-grouped.

Contact will be minimal.

Safe tackling technique will be emphasized.

Wear t-shirt, shorts and cleats (Bring tennis shoes).

We will not be wearing football equipment at this camp.

Please arrive at 4:30 on day 1 of camp.

***Each camper will receive a camp T-Shirt***

Tennis Camp

Date: June 12-16

Time: 5:30-7:00 PM

Location: Scottsburg High School Tennis Courts

Price: $50 (T-Shirt included)

Age: Incoming 3rd-8th Grade

Skating Events Sponsored by Hope To Others

Where: Scottsburg Rollerdome

When: 2nd and 4th Saturdays in June and July (June 10th, June 24th, July 8th, and July 22nd)

Time: 8:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

Cost: Free Admission and Skates. Snack bar will be selling their items.

Purdue

As the school year comes to a close, the Women in Engineering Program at Purdue University is offering an exciting and FREE engineering event geared toward girls who have completed 6th, 7th or 8th grade by July 2023.
