Updates from Allenwood School

Mid-August 2025 Newsletter
Principal's Message
Dear Allenwood Families,
Can you believe it is already August? I hope that our young Dragons are enjoying a relaxing and joyful summer. I trust your family is creating lasting memories and spending some well-deserved quality time together. Although the building has been quieter than usual, Allenwood has been full of activity behind the scenes!
We are excited to share that several important facility upgrades have been completed this summer. These include:
-
A fully updated HVAC system to ensure year-round comfort
-
A new fire alarm panel to enhance building safety
-
New floor tiles installed in various classrooms
-
Two brand new bathrooms
These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to providing a safe, comfortable, and engaging learning environment for our students and staff.
As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I encourage all of our Allenwood Dragons to continue engaging in learning throughout the remainder of the summer. Activities such as daily reading or practicing math facts are excellent ways to prevent the "summer slide," reinforce academic skills, and support a smooth transition back to school.
As a friendly reminder, goody bags are not permitted for parties or birthdays. Students may hand out a pencil or another non-food item if they wish to celebrate, but we kindly ask that bags not be distributed. This precaution helps ensure that food items, especially those that could trigger allergies, are not unknowingly included.
September will be here before we know it, marking the start of the 2025–2026 school year! To help families prepare, please scroll down in this newsletter for the suggested supply lists by grade level. Also, here is a list of important dates:
August 28 at 9:00 AM - New Student Orientation
-
August 28 at 10:00 AM - Kindergarten Orientation
-

Parent Handbook & Genesis Forms
In order to access student schedules—which will be released on August 22nd—all Genesis Forms must be completed by a parent or guardian. These include an acknowledgment that you have read the 2025–2026 Parent Handbook, which is linked directly within the forms. We encourage you to complete them as soon as possible to avoid any delay in receiving your child’s schedule.
Code of Conduct
As a district, we are committed to fostering respect, responsibility, and safety in all our schools through our updated Code of Conduct. This initiative reflects a collaborative effort among all elementary schools to support students in developing these essential skills for both their academic journey and everyday life.
We are looking forward to welcoming our students back and beginning another exciting year of learning and growth at Allenwood Elementary School!
Sincerely,
James Sterenczak
