Important Information About Preparing for Course Selection!
Please read the following to be ready for course selection:
PARENTS: SchooLinks Task to Complete
Katy ISD has asked for all parents to login to SchooLinks by October 30th. This allows parents to be familiar with logging in to SchooLinks in preparation for Course Planning in the early Spring Semester and to identify any login issues preemptively. Please see the attached directions to login through the Katy ISD app or the Katy ISD website.

Greetings Bear Nation!
Our bears have read over 4,200 books since the 1st day of school, and they are loving all of the things happening in our library. Please remind your child to check out the BDJH Library course in Canvas for helpful information, tools, and websites. Each month, the library offers new reading enrichment activities and a new reading challenge which you can find in the BDJH Library course under the Monthly Activities & Challenges (M.A.C. Tab). This is a great way for our bears to practice their research skills and learn more about the different events that are being recognized each month. Students can also find the new monthly reading challenge that helps encourage them to try different genres and explore all of the different types of books our library has to offer.
Please remind your child to take good care of their library books. A great tip would be to keep it in a gallon size Ziploc bag to help prevent it from minor accidents. We have had many books that have been returned with pages ripped, bent, and discolored and wavy pages from liquid damage which have resulted in fines being assessed. If books are returned damaged or if they are lost, then the student is responsible for paying the fine to replace the library book.
Please encourage your child to utilize the online library filled with thousands of eBooks called Sora. It is a free application that allows your child to have access to books 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. This allows your child to have access to books at all times. Students can access Sora by logging into their MyKaty and clicking the A++ Library Resources Tile.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our library extraordinary!

AMC 8 & AMC 10A Registration Information
Thank you so much to all the parents who have registered their students for this year's AMC math competitions! Registration is closed, and we are absolutely thrilled by the incredible response and enthusiasm from our community.
Beckendorff Junior High is excited to offer students the opportunity to participate in the AMC 8 and AMC 10A/ 10B. These nationally recognized mathematics competitions challenge students to apply problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in a fun and competitive setting.
Please note a critical policy regarding the next steps of the competition: if a student qualifies for the AIME (American Invitational Mathematics Examination), only registered Beckendorff Junior High students will be permitted to take that exam here at Beckendorff. Parents of students attending other Katy ISD campuses will need to make arrangements for their child to test at an alternative approved testing location for the AIME.
We look forward to seeing our students showcase their mathematical talents!
AMC 10A will be held Thursday, November 5, 2026, after school in the BDJH cafeteria beginning at 4:10 PM. Students will have 75 minutes to complete the exam and should be picked up when they finish.
AMC 10B will be held Friday, November 13, 2026, after school in the BDJH LGI beginning at 4:10 PM. Students will have 75 minutes to complete the exam and should be picked up when they finish.
AMC 8 will be held Thursday, January 21, 2027, after school in the BDJH cafeteria beginning at 4:10 PM. Students will have 40 minutes to complete the exam and should be picked up when they finish.

Volunteers
Volunteer Registration
Katy ISD is grateful for the thousands of volunteers who make a difference in our schools each
year. To help maintain a safe and secure environment for our students and staff, all volunteers
serving on or off campus during or outside the instructional day are required to register annually
through the district's Raptor volunteer management system.
A valid government-issued photo ID and email address are required to complete registration.
Your information will remain confidential and will not be shared outside of the volunteer
program, except for applicants who register as a Community Volunteer (not a parent,
grandparent, or guardian of a current Katy ISD student) or as a KEYS Mentor. For these
volunteer roles, the information required to complete a background check will be shared only
with our authorized background screening provider, JDP.
Once registered and approved, volunteers can:
• Sign up as a campus volunteer by completing the volunteer recruitment form provided by
their campus organization(s) or by contacting the campus volunteer coordinator.
• Track volunteer hours through their volunteer profile for every Katy ISD campus where they
serve.
• Quickly and easily submit individual off-campus volunteer hours
