Reclassification
April 30, 2026 — We are incredibly proud to celebrate 15 outstanding students from Mayfair Middle/High School who have officially been reclassified! Reclassification is a significant academic milestone in which students who originally entered the school system as English Learners demonstrate fluency and high proficiency in English through state testing, teacher evaluations, and strong overall classroom performance. Achieving Fluent English Proficient status requires immense dedication, perseverance, and hard work over many years. We are absolutely thrilled to honor these students for this incredible achievement and look forward to watching them continue to thrive and excel in their educational journeys.
Senior Celebration: May 1, 2026
On Friday, May 1, 2026, Mayfair High School hosted its newly revamped Senior Celebration, condensing the traditional "commitment week" into a single, action-packed afternoon to boost student engagement. The campus buzzed with school spirit as staff and students donned college t-shirts to cheer on the graduating class as they committed to their next steps. Attendees enjoyed fun activities like photo ops, a "guess the senior" kindergarten picture game, and matching teachers to their alma maters. A special highlight was the strong showing from Mayfair's own California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) alumni staff, who enthusiastically welcomed the newest members of their group with a dedicated trivia challenge.
Very Special Art Festival: May 1, 2026
Students from Mayfair Middle/High School recently joined a community-wide celebration of creativity and togetherness at The Music Center's 47th Annual Very Special Arts Festival. Taking place on Friday, May 1, 2026, the festival invited everyone to feel "United & Inspired" through a day packed with hands-on arts workshops, live performances, and a featured student art gallery. This inclusive TMC Arts program, made possible by lead supporter Mimi Song and partners like the Los Angeles County Office of Education and LAUSD, provided free admission for the school to ensure every student could experience the magic of L.A.'s Performing Arts Center. It was a beautiful reminder that when it comes to the arts, there is truly a place for every voice and every talent.

We encourage everyone to keep language clean and family-friendly, show school spirit without noisemakers or music, and acknowledge the hard work of both teams. Let’s focus on encouragement rather than criticism. Spectators who do not follow these guidelines may be asked to leave the event. Dress Code Reminders
As the weather begins to warm up, we want to remind everyone of the importance of adhering to our school dress code to ensure a safe and respectful learning environment for all. Clothing must cover undergarments at all times, and students should avoid wearing sheer, low-cut, or overly revealing attire, including excessive midriff exposure. For safety, appropriate and protective footwear is required at all times. Additionally, clothing and accessories should not disrupt the educational environment, and items such as hats, hoods, and beanies must be removed indoors. We appreciate your partnership in helping maintain a positive and focused school community by ensuring all students follow these guidelines each day.
No Recording. No Instigating. Keep Mayfair Safe.
Recording or encouraging fights creates safety risks and leads to consequences under Ed Code §48900(k). Make positive choices—walk away, report, and protect your school community.
Reminders
Listed below are just a few important reminders (PLEASE READ):
- Mayfair Middle/High School does not permit any drop-offs or deliveries of food or other items. Please ensure that your student is prepared for the day when coming to school in the morning with their lunch, supplies, money, etc.
- Dress Code. For the 2025-2026 school year, we are trying to prepare our students for college and career ready with a dress code. Students will not be allowed to wear any inappropriate clothing which includes the following: No sheer, low cut, revealing blouses, bare midriff, or braless outfits, bathing suits, beach attire, tight or revealing, or strapless garments. Please be sure that your student follows the dress code and wears appropriate clothing and accessories. Also, students may not bring blankets to campus. Click here to access Mayfair's Dress Code Policy.
- No returning back to campus. If a student has an early release (7th or 8th period), once the student leaves campus, they may not return to campus during school hours. Parents - please ensure that your students are going home early if they have the early release. Note: Students who have a "home" period, must leave campus by the end of lunch, and are not allowed to remain unsupervised. Please review your students schedule so that you are aware when they will be leaving campus early (prior to 3:35).
School Policies
Bikes/skateboards/ scooters
Students will not be allowed to have bikes, scooters or skateboards on campus. There are designated lock areas on the north and south ends of campus for students to securely store them during the school day. Riding and even walking them through campus presents a safety concern. Students are expected to pick up their belongings at the designated areas, and exit campus. Students are also required to walk their Bike, scooter or skateboard until they are completely off campus, which includes walkways and parking lots. Our goal is to insure safety for all students, we appreciate your support in upholding these expectations at home.
For the safety of all students and staff, riding bikes, scooters, or skateboards on campus is not permitted. Once students reach the school curb, they must walk their bikes and skateboards at all times. Motorbikes are not allowed on campus. All bikes, scooters, and skateboards must be properly locked to a designated bike rack only and should not be attached to gates or left in front of the school. Items left or locked outside of campus have been stolen in the past, and the school is not responsible for lost or stolen property.
Safety is a shared responsibility, both on and around campus. Students are expected to be cautious when crossing streets, follow all traffic and crossing rules, and use designated crosswalks. We have had students hit by cars this year, which underscores how important it is to stay alert and make safe choices when arriving to and leaving school. Taking these precautions helps protect not only individual students, but our entire school community.
E-Bikes
- Mayfair expects all student to wear a helmet when operating an e-bike, bicycle, skateboard or scooter.
- These items are never to be ridden on campus, to include the parking lots, side walks, or front of school. They must be walked off of campus.
- E-Motos (no pedals) or modified e bikes are not permitted at mayfair.
- The sheriff's department may cite or impound illegal bikes brought to campus.
Parking
Please ensure you are not parked in a no parking zone or at a red curb. Emergency response vehicles need access to campus and can not be blocked. If you violate this expectation, you may be cited or towed.
Tardy Policy
Starting October 13, 2025, Mayfair will enforce a new tardy policy: any student who is tardy to three or more periods in a single week will be assigned a lunch detention the following week. Students must complete their detention to be removed from the no-go Minga list and regain the ability to attend special school events, which are considered privileges. Failure to serve a lunch detention will result in additional consequences.
Wellness Center
Mayfair Middle/High School’s Wellness Center is available for students who need a short break to recharge during the day. Students must first check into class at the start of the period and then have a pass or Minga pass from a teacher or counselor to visit. Wellness breaks are limited to 10–15 minutes, and cell phones must be put away while in the center. Please remember that all health-related issues should be directed to the Health Office. Students are allowed only one pass per day unless otherwise determined.
CTE Pathways
Dear BUSD families — We invite you to explore the CTE Course Videos page on the Bellflower Unified website, where you can preview the exciting Career Technical Education (CTE) classes that your high school student may be able to take. Mayfair Middle/High School students will utilize the app called Minga as a digital ID card. The app enables staff to create hall passes, reward students for doing well and helping others, and the digital ID card will help students have an easier time entering or leaving campus. The digital ID has a "live" interface, with a running digital clock and a moving background, thus preventing students from using a screenshot [Screenshots of ID are not permitted]. Students will utilize their school email (via Google) to log in. The app is safe to use, uses very little data, and doesn't require access to any of the information stored on your phone. If your child does not have a smartphone, don't worry - they will receive a printed ID card as well. Click here to access a quick document that shows you how to log into your school's Minga account.
