2022-23 News and Updates for Lowell Families
Published by Lowell School & Lowell PTA
Message From Dr. Rodriguez
Good Evening Lowell Families,
Welcome to our first edition of our Lowell Family Memo for the 2022-2023 school year. We are truly excited to welcome back our little Lowell Eagles and Lowell Families. We hope you have had a wonderful fun filled summer. If you are new to our Lowell family we would like to give you a warm welcome. We have many exciting things happening at Lowell already. Our Lowell staff has been working really hard to prepare for your children's arrival here at school! This year’s theme HAPPY (Have a Positive Productive Year) will be to reflect both the great privilege of being part of this cohesive, caring community and the collective responsibility we have in growing this wonderful next generation of learners.
The Lowell Memo will continue to be an important source of information throughout the school year that is done in collaboration with our PTA. The Lowell Memo will be sent every Sunday at 6:00. Know that I continue to welcome your feedback at any time during the year, and I invite you to explore our website, social media channels, and our school blog to see the many ways 'The Lowell community takes FLIGHT'! Now let's have a HAPPY start to the school year.
Thank you for sharing your child with us and for being part of this most wonderful school community.
Respectfully,
Dr. Jacqueline Rodriguez

Lowell Vehicle Traffic Patterns
Will you be dropping off or picking up by car this school year? Please review our traffic patterns to keep everyone safe below.
Safety at Arrival & Dismissal
We thank you for not double parking on Illinois, in the car line, and in the surrounding neighborhood during arrival and dismissal to keep the children safe. Thank you for not blocking driveways and idling your car while you wait, too. We also thank all families for crossing Illinois Street at the corner. Safety for the children is our top priority, and we pride ourselves on being respectful to our neighbors of Lowell School.

Vision 2026
Our Vision 2022 Strategic Plan is coming to an end. Over the past few months, the District has, through the support of our staff, parents and community, been working on the development of our next strategic plan, Vision 2026. If you were not able to attend one of our community sessions, or have not had the opportunity to view the draft of our strategic plan, you are invited to visit our website at www.cusd200.org/vision2026. On this page you will find:
A brief overview video from Superintendent Dr. Jeff Schuler;
A draft of our plan, and
A link to provide your feedback and ask any questions you may have.
Food Service Updates
Universal free school meal programs, initially introduced in March 2020 as the pandemic began, are expiring at the end of this school year. Beginning on July 1, 2022, applications for free or reduced priced meals for the 2022-23 School Year will be available on the District website. Families who do not directly certify for free and reduced lunch through the State of Illinois, but would like to apply for free and reduced meals, must complete the Household Eligibility Application (HEA) after July 1. Eligibility for free or reduced meals is only applicable to the year in which the application is submitted. Students who are not approved for free or reduced priced meals through the HEA or are not directly certified as of July 1, 2022 or later, will be charged for meals and food service items beginning the first day of school on August 17, 2022. Please know that this is applicable to all students, even if they qualified for free or reduced priced meals in previous school years.
You may check your child’s food service account balance by signing in to your MySchoolBucks account at www.MySchoolBucks.com. If you do not already have an account, you can register for a free account. You will need to know your student’s school and school ID. Once you have logged on, you may check your student’s account balance and/or deposit money into his/her account. The MySchoolBucks program fee is $2.75 for all cafeteria credit/debit card payments. Please know that this fee is a pass through cost and is not kept by District 200. You can also send cash or a check payable to District 200, to school in an envelope marked with the student’s name, ID, and grade.
Fee Waiver Update
Fees for the 2022-23 School Year are posted and are viewable as families register for next year. If your family does not directly certify for a Fee Waiver through the State of Illinois but would like to apply for a fee waiver can do so after July 1, 2022, by completing the form on this page and returning it to their oldest child’s school. Please know that applications for free or reduced price meals are separate from fee waiver applications, and each application needs to be completed individually.
