Madison High School Updates
August 30th, 2026
Message from Mrs. Thomas
Welcome Back, MHS Families! We had a great first week and are excited for the 2026-2027 school year! As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I wanted to review our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) Framework as we continue to build on our proactive approach and the instructional strategies that foster a safe, positive and effective learning environment by teaching and reinforcing positive student behaviors. At the high school, we have adopted the core values of Resilience, Integrity, Showing Respect and Employability. These core values anchor our school and classroom expectations and have been used to develop a school-wide matrix. This matrix is taught and modeled for students to ensure consistency and accountability. I would encourage parents to review our HS Matrix and support your student to R.I.S.E. Up the Madison Way, All Day, Every Day!
One component of our PBIS Framework is acknowledging students who are meeting our schoolwide expectations. Our full acknowledgement system can be viewed here, but one component of our acknowledgement system supports student attendance. Last year we piloted an incentive around student attendance and the results were remarkable (see data below)!
In an effort to continue to acknowledge students who have good attendance, we are offering the following attendance incentive for the current 2026-2027 school year:
Feedback that was collected from staff, parents and students was taken into consideration when we developed this year's incentive. We believe this incentive continues to encourage strong student attendance and recognizes the power of student seat time in class while providing a more equitable opportunity for all MHS families and students.Students that have no more than 2 absences for any reason (other than school-related/funeral) and no more than 2 tardies total for the entire trimester will earn an exam exemption for all MHS classes that they are currently passing (prior to attendance grade). This incentive will be in place for 1st and 2nd trimester only. All students will take 3rd trimester exams.
- Students have the option to still take the exam if they choose for the 1st and 2nd trimester.
- The list of students earning the incentive will be released the last full day of school before exams.

PBIS Back-to-School Celebration!
This Tuesday, September 1st, we will have our PBIS Kick-Off Assembly and Schoolwide Celebration! Students will report to the PAC with their 4th hour teacher at 11:30am. Afterwards, students will be dismissed to enjoy an afternoon outside where we will have a food truck rally and an opportunity for students to celebrate the new school year! Students may grab a lunch from the cafeteria, bring a picnic lunch, and/or purchase items from the concession stand or food trucks. Students are encouraged to bring a blanket and their favorite yard game! We look forward to celebrating the start of a great year!
For planning purposes, the menus from the food trucks are below. In addition to the food trucks, our Athletic Boosters will have the concession stand open and will have drinks, pizza, nachos, popcorn and candy for sale.

News from the Counseling Office
New and Returning Student Registration
Both new and returning students/families must complete student registration via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal https://www.infinitecampus.com/login
The purpose of this process is to ensure that our records are updated with correct addresses/phone numbers. This process will also eliminate the large number of paper forms that parents are asked to complete at the start of each school year!
Parents who do not have an active Parent Portal account in Infinite Campus should email HS Secretary, Kristal Vanzile for an activation code.
While it is possible to complete the registration on a mobile device, you may find the process easier on a desktop!
Student Technology Fee
An annual Technology/Textbook fee of $25 will be assessed to all high school students. The Technology Fee must be paid before a student can receive their textbooks & Chromebook. The fee can be paid within the Infinite Campus Portal under "Fees". To ensure your student receives their Chromebook on the first day of school, the Technology Fee should be paid by Friday, August 21st.
If you have not paid this fee, please do so immediately. Families with extenuating circumstances are encouraged to contact the HS Office or email Mrs. Thomas.
