Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 10th October 2025
Lindisfarne Part 1!
Our Year 5 class left early on Wednesday morning for their three day/two night residential visit to Holy Island. Mrs Beckett was able to post photos on their ClassDojo page on Wednesday evening along with a summary of their day:
'We’ve had an action-packed first day here at Lindisfarne! The children have been absolutely brilliant – full of energy, enthusiasm, and great teamwork throughout the day’s activities. After a busy day exploring and having fun, everyone is now safely tucked up in bed, ready for a good night’s sleep before another exciting day tomorrow. We’re so proud of how well they’ve settled in and are looking forward to more adventures ahead!'
Thursday saw further adventures: 'We’ve had another fantastic day exploring the beautiful island of Lindisfarne! Our adventures began with some exciting rock pooling, where we discovered a variety of fascinating marine life — including a starfish, hermit crabs, sea worms, and more. It was a brilliant hands-on experience with nature.
Next, we explored the historic Lindisfarne Castle, enjoying the chance to wander its grounds and take in the breathtaking views. After a well-earned lunch, we treated ourselves to some delicious ice cream before heading down to the beach for an afternoon packed with fun. We got creative making sand art, paddled in the sea, and had a blast running, rolling, jumping, and climbing the sand dunes.
As the sun began to set, we finished the day with a peaceful night walk under a sky full of stars — and we were lucky enough to spot some constellations sparkling above us. Back at base, we enjoyed a warm hot chocolate and a special bedtime treat, bringing a perfect end to a very memorable day.'
We are looking forward to hearing all about their remaining adventures after the weekend and will report further in next week's update.
Year 2 Class Worship
This week, Year 2 led a wonderful class worship where they shared their courageous advocacy project: Stop Wasting Water. They spoke clearly and confidently, explaining why saving water is important and what we can all do to help. The children did a fantastic job and are already putting their promises into action by making sure taps are turned off properly. Well done, Year 2!
Remembrance Art Workshop
On Wednesday, our Service Children welcomed a special visitor — Angela Campbell from the Service Children’s Network. Angela led a meaningful Remembrance Art Workshop, where the children created beautiful poppies that will be transformed into sculptures representing each school who has taken part.
These sculptures will be proudly displayed in the Cathedral for the Remembrance Service on 7th November. Afterwards, they will be donated to the Royal British Legion care home, Lister House, in Ripon — a heartfelt gesture of remembrance and gratitude.
Our Weekly Stars
Congratulations to our Stars of the Week celebrated in today's worship:
