HUSKIE HEALTH WITH NURSE BECKY
Spring is in the air! Soon we will be seeing the colors of spring all around us. One way to bring new energy and life into our bodies is to eat color! You should have 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Have one of every color! Each colorful fruit or vegetable you eat brings its unique blend of vitamins and minerals that our bodies need to thrive! Eat what's in season. When we eat the fruits and veggies that are in season, we are getting them at their peak times. Here are a few in season right now: arugula, beets, carrots, radishes, spinach, apples, grapefruits, kiwis, mangos, and strawberries. Healthy food means a healthy heart. We get one lifetime and one heart. So let's take care of it.
Go Heart Healthy Huskies!!

COMMUNITY SCOOP
In 2015, the LPGA Foundation began a new, exciting journey, as we introduced a two-day LPGA Leadership Academy to keep teenage girls engaged in golf and prepare them for leadership opportunities.
The LPGA Leadership Academy uses golf as a vehicle to provide a framework for young women to develop their confidence, communication, and leadership skills. Group exercises, expert led discussions, journaling and interaction with female executives and mentors help girls discover their unique strengths and leadership style.
We use the game of golf as a platform and learning tool to:
- teach girls how to become better decision makers
- overcome and let go of set backs
- take calculated risks and "Lean In"
- develop skills to accomplish specific goals
- play their own game and find their own voice
This years leadership academy will be held June 20-21 at the Midland Country Club. The application deadline is April 26th, so make sure you get signed up soon.
All girls ages 13-18 with some golf experience, an interest in improving confidence, communication, decision making, team and leadership skills and plan to pursue a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) field in college should plan to attend.
