Today in Our Elementary Cafeterias...
We Celebrated Lunar New Year!!
The BASD Food Services team served Tangerine Chicken and Fortune Cookies as part of today's lunches at our elementary buildings in celebration of Lunar New Year. 2026 is the
Year of the Fire Horse. In addition to the special signs and food options,
there were traditional decorations for all to enjoy!!
The Year of the Fire Horse symbolizes intensified energy, ambition, freedom, and rapid progress, a powerful period for action, breakthroughs, and personal growth but also requiring balance to
avoid impulsiveness.
Tips and Tricks for Navigating Our New Website
Thank you for your feedback about our new website! As with any new website rollout, it takes time to become familiar with the new look and layout, both internally and externally. We understand that it is an adjustment and are here to provide tips and tricks based on your feedback.
HINT #1:
Most questions from our families are about how to find Attendance Information/Educational Trip Forms (located under Attendance and BASD Forms), information regarding our Health Services/Nurses, and Cafeteria Menus. These three items, and many more, are now accessible from almost every page of the website by accessing the Students & Families drop-down menu pictured above.
To simplify navigation, we selected the most visited pages from our old site and created menus based on our user groups. Rather than simply having those links available on district- and building-level homepages, we added them to the top of our pages for easy access.
HINT #2:
If you had bookmarks or shortcuts set up to our old website on personal devices, chances are they no longer work. You need to delete them and then create them again with the appropriate new website link. If they still do not work, you will need to clear your browsing history and try again.
HINT #3:
If you are attempting to use the Staff Directory information from any homepage to email a member of our team by clicking on the email icon, and either nothing happens, or an email opens without their district email address, either your email client does not support this capability, or you are attempting to send an email from a device without an email client installed.
We have a workaround for that, too!
Navigate to the employee you would like to contact using our directory. (See image below)
- Right-click on their email icon within the directory.
- Select 'Copy Email Address.'
- Navigate to your email, and paste the address into the 'To' field.
BASD will continue to monitor our Website Feedback Form submissions,
and share tips & tricks, as appropriate. The Website Feedback Form
can be found in the footer at the bottom of our web pages.
Thank you for your collaboration!! #BASDBEARSWorkTogether

Spotlight on Emily Gilbert
Meet Emily Gilbert, a senior at BASH. Emily spends 15 hours a week at NHUF learning all about the ins and outs of teaching. This includes interacting with students, teaching mini math lessons, and reading chapter books to them. Emily hopes that what she learns in the internship will help with her future as an elementary school teacher.
What is your connection to your future? "I hope to become a teacher that students love and can trust."
Spotlight on Julian Heath
Meet Julian Heath, a senior at BASH. Julian Heath spends around 23 hours a week at Miss Doreen's Playmation Childcare, learning all about childcare and educational development. This includes primarily helping in the two-year-old room and the infant room, as well as helping complete cleaning tasks. Julian Heath hopes that what he learns in the internship will help with his future in social work and child welfare. He sees this internship as a path that coincides with his plans as it may not be the same, it tests his abilities to work with children and help with their future.
Julian is pictured with his room lead dressed up for Halloween this year.
Spotlight on Sadie Hanish
Meet Sadie Hanish, a senior at BASH. Sadie spends 4 hours a week in the BASH choir room with Mr. Brunner learning about the behind the scenes work that goes into being a music teacher. Fight Food Insecurity in OUR School Community!
BASD is pleased to share that The GIANT Company is partnering with our school district’s food services department to help support our students facing food insecurity.
From now through March 31, 2026, everyone who shops at GIANT in Gilbertsville is invited to “round up” their bill to the closest dollar. The funds raised will support Feeding School Kids. Customers can also donate by converting their CHOICE Rewards Points in the GIANT app.
Our district is #BASDBEARProud to once again partner with The GIANT Company to address food insecurity in our school community. We hope you will join us in supporting and advocating for this initiative to help ensure no child in our district experiences hunger at school or at home!
