Greetings,
We enjoyed a brief but productive in-person week as we launched a new semester. While winter weather required two Flexible Instruction Days, it was great to welcome students back and begin the second half of the school year together.
Marking Period 2 report cards are now available in the Home Access Center (HAC). This is a wonderful time to review your child’s academic progress, celebrate accomplishments, and set new goals as we move forward into the second semester.
Our winter semi-formal was a fantastic evening filled with music, strong attendance, and excellent student behavior. We are very grateful to the parents who volunteered their time or donated items to help make the event a success. Thank you as well to our teachers and Student Council for their hard work in planning and hosting such a memorable social event at The Lake.
As a reminder, Hoops for Hope shirt sales end Sunday, February 1. Please see the information and order form included in this newsletter.
Stay warm this weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone in February.
Sincerely,
Ryan Buterbaugh

Hoops 4 Hope
One of our marquee events of the year - our Hoops 4 Hope Student-Faculty Basketball Game, which is a spirited and good-natured rivalry between the 8th grade basketball teams and the teachers, will take place on Wednesday, February 18th after school. Late buses will be available following the event, or parent pickup is at 4:45pm. All proceeds from this exciting event will be donated to the Eagles Autism Foundation on behalf of our school. The student body (non-8th grade-players) will have the opportunity to purchase shirts for this game! Shirts can be purchased through this Hoops for Hope 2026 Team Store Link and will cost $20.00. The deadline for orders is Sunday, February 1st at 11:59pm. Shirts will be delivered to school for distribution prior to game day. Purchasing a shirt includes admission to the game. Students who would like to attend, but not purchase a shirt, may do so during their lunch period, beginning on Wednesday, February 11th, for $10.00 per ticket. *TICKETS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED THE DAY OF THE EVENT IN HOMEROOM.* Please contact Mrs. Bucci (kbucci@rtmsd.org) or Mrs. Hartzell (dhartzell@rtmsd.org) with any questions.

Attendance Reminders
Early Dismissals
Requests for early dismissal must be made in writing and delivered to the main office by 8:15 a.m. The note should include the date, reason for dismissal, time of pickup, name of the person picking up the student, and a parent/guardian signature. Parents/guardians are required to pick up students and sign them out in the main office.
For emergency early dismissals, please call the main office with your child’s name and the time you plan to pick them up. If someone other than a parent/guardian will be picking up your child, the office must be notified with that person’s name and permission. Anyone not listed as a guardian or emergency contact will be required to present a valid photo ID.
We kindly ask families to follow these procedures to help minimize classroom interruptions and ensure a safe and efficient dismissal process for all students.
Late Arrivals
If your student is going to be late to school, please call the absentee hotline at 610-627-6500. When they arrive at school, your student can bring a doctor's note (if available) and security will sign them into the building.
Pre-Planned Absences
If you would like to request approval for a pre-planned absence, please access the required form on the RTMSD website: https://www.rtmsd.org/departments/registration/pre-planned-absences or obtain a paper copy from the main office. Submit the completed form to your child’s grade-level administrator, or email it to slms-attendance@rtmsd.org or drop it off in person. Forms must be submitted at least five (5) days prior to the planned absence to allow sufficient time for administrative review. Guidelines regarding the number of allowable days and expectations are outlined on the Pre-Planned Absence Form.

Poetry Slam
FARE is sponsoring the 4th annual Poetry Slam. The event will be held in the Library at Penncrest High School on February 4th at 7:00 PM. This is an opportunity for students to share their own original poem, spoken word, expression, or even read a poem they love that was written by someone else. Students interested in reading a poem should register at: https://forms.gle/sw5bQFWWcuU2d8a5A
or QR code to sign up
Cell Phones and Electronic Devices
To keep classrooms focused and learning uninterrupted, all wireless devices, including cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, and similar devices, must be OFF and AWAY during the school day unless a teacher gives a specific academic reason to use them. Students will be reminded each morning to power down their devices.
Please let your child know that you will not be texting or calling during school hours. If a student needs to reach a parent, a staff member can provide permission. In an emergency, the main office is the best way to get in touch. More details are available in the Springton Lake Student Handbook.
Thank you for helping us create a safe, distraction-free learning environment!
