A message from Superintendent, David Moss

Hello Clinton-Massie Family!

We have had a great start to our school year and can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us! The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce officially released the state report cards for all school districts last week. Ratings are assigned on a scale from 1 to 5 stars, with half-star increments available. A 5-star rating indicates a higher level of performance compared to a 1-star rating. I am extremely proud to announce our school district received 4.5 out of 5 stars! Our overall rating ranked us in the top 22% of all school districts in the state of Ohio!! While test scores are not the only indicator of a successful school district, they do provide a snapshot of the hard work and dedication of our staff and our students.

As we dive into the school year, let’s remember that our district is more than just classrooms—it’s a vibrant community focused on growth and connection. We want to inspire learners, empower our community, and strive for excellence every day. Look for a Quality Profile to be released next month that shares some of the great things happening here at Clinton-Massie. We are excited to work with our students and staff everyday! We hope to see you on campus in the near future!

August Board Meeting Summary August Board Meeting Summary

Quick BOE Meeting Recap

The August 19 Board of Education meeting took place in the Middle School and a recap of the meeting is below.

1. The Clinton County Foundation presented a check for $44,551 to the Clinton-Massie Athletic Boosters. The check was a transfer of funds that had been managed by the Foundation on behalf of the school district’s sports fundraising efforts. The Wilmington News Journal did a nice job of sharing more details and that article can be found by clicking this link.

2. In an effort to help the community better understand the district's financial status and challenges; Superintendent, David Moss and Treasurer, Carrie Bir provided an in-depth presentation on district finances. More details regarding the upcoming levy can be found on our district page. A link to this page can be accessed by clicking this link.

3. Carrie Bir, Treasurer shared a 5-year capital improvement plan and items that need the most attention over the next several years. Our newest building is now 20 years old, and with that the replacement and maintenance will continue to increase over time.

November 2024 Levy November 2024 Levy

Clinton-Massie Local Schools will be on the November 5, 2024 ballot for a 1% earned income tax levy. This will tax the same reported wages (W-2s, Schedule Cs, Schedule Fs) as the current 0.5% earned income tax levy. Our Permanent Improvement Fund will no longer have a revenue stream (the building maintenance levy from when the buildings were constructed runs out in December), so a portion of the additional 0.5% will be dedicated to building improvements such as roof replacement, HVAC, plumbing, etc. For more information please see https://www.cmfalcons.org/en-US/levy.

You can also email Treasurer, Carrie Bir or Superintendent, David Moss or you can reach them by phone at 937-289-2471.

Final Forms Final Forms

Each year, we need forms to be updated to ensure correct information is on file. It is also a way for parents to review student handbooks and sign off on other district forms. This is a reminder to complete final forms for your student. Emails have been sent to parent emails and the link included in the email will direct you to complete forms for the 24-25 school year. You can also access final forms by clicking this link.

Outdoor Facilities - "4 Quarter Drive" Outdoor Facilities - "4 Quarter Drive"

Our facilities need immediate attention as some are on the verge of not being useable due to safety concerns and many need significant upgrades over the next 1-3 years to allow continued use. The district is asking for community financial support through a grassroots funding program.

We aim to partner with local businesses and community members to drive facility upgrades. Local businesses and community members are rewarded with many great sponsorship opportunities including but not limited to Naming Rights, Advertisement Opportunities, Donor Wall Recognition, PA Announcements, Season Passes, etc.

The entire project is approximately $2.5 million dollars. The "1st quarter" of the 4 Quarter Drive focuses on replacing the turf. It is 13 years old and at the end of life. An average turf field lasts between 8-12 years. The turf provides athletic opportunities for our football, soccer, lacrosse, youth teams, band, and community. It is a revenue generator for our school, so it needs to be our focus.
