On Patriot's Day, we paused to honor the memory of September 11th by remembering the strength, unity, and resilience that define our nation. It serves as a gentle reminder of the power of community, compassion, and lifting one another up.

That spirit of togetherness was on full display this week! We were thrilled to host nearly 150 grandparents for our Grandparents Day breakfast. Seeing so many smiling faces and generations sharing a morning together brought immense joy schoolwide. We also wrapped up another successful Annual Title I Family Meeting and Google Classroom Parent Night. Thank you to everyone who logged on and joined us in person—your dedication to staying connected with your child’s learning makes all the difference. Moments like these continually remind us how truly grateful we are to have such a supportive, engaged, and involved school community.

To all the members of our community observing Rosh Hashanah this week, we send our warmest wishes for a sweet, peaceful, and healthy New Year.

We look forward to continuing to celebrate the strength of our community at our International Night Celebration this Thursday evening, September 17th. We hope to see many of you there as we honor and celebrate the rich diversity, cultures, and traditions that make our school family so uniquely vibrant.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead!

Friday, September 18 is a Digital Learning Day (DLD) for all students. On scheduled DLDs, students access lessons in Google Classroom through their Launchpad/Student Portal but may not have virtual class time with their teachers.

To ensure that students have a nutritious meal to fuel their learning, our bus drivers will be on the road and at every bus stop to deliver meals prepared by the School Nutrition Program staff. Families should expect buses to run their routes from approximately 10:45 a.m. to noon, beginning at the first stops on the route. These delivered meals are provided at no cost to families and are provided to anyone 18 years old and under. Learn more about Digital Learning Days in GCPS.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming back to Taylor from September 28th- October 2nd! We will be open during our wonderful Lunch with a Loved One days too!

Flyers will be coming home soon, but you can also feel free to browse/ preview, shop, or set up an e-wallet, whenever you want at:

https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/ketaylorelementaryschool

FYI: eWallets now stay connected to each family's Scholastic account year after year.Families can simply update a child's grade and teacher for the next school year—there's no need to start over! New features let families transfer remaining funds between children, shop Scholastic online, and contribute to Share the Fair™.

***I am also looking for some fabulous volunteers to help each day. We will have morning and afternoon shifts to help set up on September 24th and also to help each day during the fair September 28- October 2nd (9am-12pm and 12pm-3pm).

If you are interested, please email: Meg.Lovejoy@gcpsk12.org

We are excited to kick off another incredible school year and help our Taylor Eagles SOAR with positive behavior!

Through our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program, students earn points for demonstrating positive behavior, kindness, and hard work throughout the day. To keep our students motivated, we are restocking our grade-level PBIS incentive carts where students can exchange their earned points for fun rewards.

How You Can Help

Our grade-level teams worked directly with students to curate wishlists filled with the specific items, snacks, and prizes they are most excited to earn. You can support our PBIS initiative by purchasing an item directly from any of our grade-level Amazon Wishlists:

Kindergarten: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1BV79DOS4ZY4L?ref_=wl_share

1st: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3NKW79RX4FQQM?ref_=wl_share

2nd: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1XVMUECYKEAA?ref_=wl_share

3rd: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3VQK3834BH0K7?ref_=wl_share

4th: https://a.co/0ejdrxua

5th: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1MKS50VWUEFL5?ref_=wl_share

Every single contribution—no matter how small—goes directly into the hands of a student who worked hard to earn it. Items purchased from the wishlists will ship directly to the school.

Thank you for partnering with us to celebrate our students' successes and foster a positive school culture. Together, we can make this year our best one yet!
