Attendance Update
Well done to the 397 children who have had 100% attendance this week.
This week's school attendance is: 94.4% - this is sadly the lowest we have had for a while.
This year's attendance to date is 95.3%.
Early Years/ KS1 classes of the week is 2E with 98.3% attendance.
KS2 class of the week is 4BY with a fantastic 100 % attendance!
A reminder that, as a school, we are aiming for no less than 96% attendance. Our whole school attendance is creeping closer to that figure.
Reminder to parents and carers
I saw the following, sent from another school, but it resonated with me given the reactions of some parents and carers when members of staff have had to reach out to them. For that reason, I thought I would share some of the words:
"When a teacher reaches out to you, it is never to complain for the sake of complaining. It is because your child matters to us. We understand that hearing difficult things about your child can feel uncomfortable, but the school and parents/carers are not on opposite sides. We are a team.
Your child may come home with one version of a story, but every situation has many layers. Before reacting, we ask that you listen calmly, ask questions and trust that we want what is best for your child.
Discipline is not punishment. Guidance is not negativity. Sometimes the hardest conversations are the most important ones."
We ask that you try to remember these words in future if having conversations with members of staff. Thank you for your support.
Reminder - end of school day change of time
A reminder, as shared earlier in the year that, from September, the school day for pupils from Reception to Year 6 will end at 3.15 as opposed to 3.25. We will of course remind you again at the end of the term and the start of the new one!
Nursery Trip
Nursery had a fabulous muddy day at The Wilder Wood on Tuesday. All the children really embraced the full forest school experience and took part in lots of activities.
These included wood scraping, sawing, hammering, drilling, making bees out of fir cones, making insects, making butterflies, tyre climbing, tyre swing, mud kitchen, den building, dress up, bird house, bubbles, water play, swings, slide, fire starting, parachute games, eating homemade pancakes in the morning and their own toasted marshmallows and the s’mores made by themselves on the camp fire in the afternoon!
It was a brilliant day!
School Staff Fundraising
On 20th June, a group of staff from Low Ash will be taking part in their second fundraising challenge of the year - the UK's biggest 5K inflatable challenge. If anyone would like to support us, please click on the link below to donate. So far, we have raised just over half of our £1000 target.
Following this event, look out for further information about an event for pupils during Healthy Schools Week.
Money raised will be going towards a 'Scrap Shed' to enhance our outdoor play provision even further.

Artis - performing arts in school
We are excited to announce that we have managed to secure external funding for a creative arts specialist to join Low Ash for one day a week next year. This is through the charity Artis. Artis is a programme which matches primary schools to a creative learning specialist who will use music, drama and movement to bring to life classroom themes – and develop children’s curriculum knowledge and support wider school priorities, including oracy and wellbeing.
This is a wonderful opportunity!
Sporting Update
A massive well done to year 6 pupil Cole, who represented Bradford in cricket last weekend.
A fantastic achievement!
Safety Update - Staying Safe Around Water
This week, as opposed to an online safety update, we are sharing a guide on how to be safe around water. This is as a result of the shocking number of children's deaths in water over the past few weeks.
We also led assemblies with pupils this week on being safe around open water.
A reminder that all of our guides can be found on the online safety page of the website.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend and we will see you on Monday.
