FIFA World Cup! FIFA World Cup!

By Neiko Stuart, 8th grader

The 8th graders created a bulletin board for the World Cup. We included the eight groups of four countries each who qualified for the Cup. The four teams in the group play each other and the winners advance. The sixteen teams that advance play each other and the losers are eliminated and go home. Each 7/8th grade student created a powerpoint presentation talking about the country we chose a slip for explaining about the country. We found 5 facts about their country: 1 fact should be about the World Cup, 1 should be about the population, 1 fact about the government, 1 fact about geography, and 1 fun fact. We included at least 3 images from the country, with citations of the sources. 8th graders are updating the bulletin board as the teams advance. We enjoyed watching the USA beat IRAN Tuesday at 2pm. The US Team plays again Saturday at 10am against the Netherlands. Come check our bulletin board out!

Walden Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Survey Walden Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Survey

I have excitedly joined the planning committee for the creation of the new Walden Local Hazard Mitigation Plan. It was agreed upon at the meeting to gather residents input for the plan through the use of a survey that is on the Walden Town website. I have provided a link below to access the survey and encourage as many residents as possible to provide your input.

Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Update

As mandated by the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, all municipalities are required to complete a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan every 5 years in order to qualify for FEMA funding should a disaster occur.

Report Cards Go Home This Friday Report Cards Go Home This Friday

Dear parents and guardians,

Report cards will be going home with students this Friday, 12/2/2, so please be on the lookout for them. When looking at the report cards please note that if it says n/a or is blank for a certain standard in Trimester one, this means that this skill or area of study has not yet been taught yet this school year. If you have any questions about your child's report card please feel free to reach out to their teacher and they would be happy to explain any standards or how the competency is being reached.
