Our Spartans demonstrated resilience this week as they successfully completed the first round of PSSA testing despite some technical difficulties. I was impressed by the effort and determination students showed throughout the week.

There is also plenty to look forward to as we head into the weekend and beyond. Some of our Spartans are competing in the Science Olympiad and Penn Relays, and we are excited to host Jazz Fest tonight. We are finalizing preparations for upcoming intramural opportunities and end-of-year events, and look forward to celebrating our 8th grade students as they approach the end of their time at The Lake. We also encourage families to take part in the upcoming community events and fundraisers highlighted in this newsletter.

Today, students enjoyed a pop-up PBIS prize raffle during lunch after a long week of testing, recognizing and reinforcing our core values of being Respectful, Responsible, Ready, and Resilient.

Sincerely,

Ryan Buterbaugh

Congratulations to our Spartans of the Month! Congratulations to our Spartans of the Month!

Our first week of PSSA testing is complete. Students finished the English Language Arts portion this week. Aside from some statewide technology issues on Tuesday, the remainder of the week ran smoothly. We are proud of the resilience and patience students demonstrated during the glitch. I observed students working hard, applying their strategies, and taking the assessment seriously. I appreciate their effort and focus.

After a break on Monday, testing will resume on Tuesday. Next week’s schedule is as follows:

  • Mathematics: April 28 and 29
  • Science (8th grade only): April 30

Please continue to remind your child to do their best. We also appreciate your support in ensuring students arrive with fully charged devices for testing.

To keep classrooms focused and learning uninterrupted, all wireless devices, including cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, and similar devices, must be OFF and AWAY during the school day unless a teacher gives a specific academic reason to use them. Students will be reminded each morning to power down their devices.

Please let your child know that you will not be texting or calling during school hours. If a student needs to reach a parent, a staff member can provide permission. In an emergency, the main office is the best way to get in touch. More details are available in the Springton Lake Student Handbook.

Thank you for helping us create a safe, distraction-free learning environment!
