Project Timeline

With the successful passing of the November 4th bond, things are in full swing with the early stages of project planning. Here is a quick look ahead at the potential timing for design and construction activities for these exciting projects. These are preliminary timelines and are being further evaluated by our design and construction management partners.

Stadium Track Renovation (funded with bond funds) & Stadium Lighting Replacement (funded with sinking funds)

  • Design Phase: December 2025 - March 2026
  • Construction Phase: Spring/Summer 2026

Anderson Addition & Renovations

  • Design Phase: January - November 2026
  • Construction Phase: Spring 2027 - Fall 2028

Prior to starting design for the Anderson project, we are taking time to really think about what will make our project successful now, and well into the future. Here are a few highlights of some of the upcoming activities that will help shape our design:

  • On December 10th, a group of administrators, educators and our design partners will be visiting a handful of recently completed area elementary schools. These visits will provide us with current design ideas that will help inform our project design.
  • In early January, we will host a series of engagement sessions to further discuss the keys to success with staff and students. This will be valuable input that will truly make our project unique to Bronson Community Schools.

You may be wondering why the design phase is so long for the Anderson project. The simple answer is that there are many decisions to be made regarding the design, and this length of time allows us to get it right. The January 2025 - November 2026 timeframe will be broken into three distinct design phases (Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents) where the amount of information developed becomes more and more detailed. At the end of each of these design phases, our construction management partners will develop a project estimate to make sure the design is achievable within our budget.

The end result of the design process is the production of a set of construction drawings and specifications that will be competitively bid and will kick off the construction phase of the project.

We will be sure to keep you informed every step of the way during this exciting time in our district!

This month, we'll conduct student perception surveys in all of our buildings. This is an opportunity for us to learn more about the school experience from those who live it every day - our students!

Survey questions (and results, after completion) can be found on our website, here: https://www.bronsonschools.org/page/student-surveys

School Closing Information School Closing Information

With winter upon us, we thought this was a great time to share the following information:

When considering a closure, we monitor weather forecasts, road conditions, and special alerts/updates from the National Weather Service. We also collaborate with other districts in the county and talk with area superintendents, maintenance, and transportation teams to assess the safety of travel and the condition of our facilities.

Key factors in the decision-making process include:

  1. Road conditions - our transportation team talks with other district transportation teams in the county and they’re all out driving the roads very early in the morning to see how road conditions are and if they are safe for travel to school.

  2. Weather forecasts - we closely monitor and track forecasts to anticipate (if possible) the severity and timing of inclement weather and how those challenges may impact travel to/from school and the regular school day.

  3. Temperature - the actual temperature and wind chill or heat index (real feel) temperatures are used in making decisions about the school day. Our district and the other districts in the county have set a maximum wind chill of -20 or colder as a cut-off point for conducting school on a normal schedule. We also use a heat index table to determine whether or not it’s safe to conduct school. However, this is not the only factor that we take into consideration and school may be cancelled or delayed for reasons other than temperature.

  4. Building Safety - school facilities are regularly inspected to make sure that they are safe for our students and staff. This not only includes snow and ice removal, but also power and security systems. If there are extensive outages or concerns in this realm, we may have to adjust the regular school day schedule.

When we make these decisions, we promptly communicate the information to families and staff to make necessary arrangements for an altered or canceled school day. This takes place through various methods including Thrillshare, our app, our website, news and radio outlets, and social media platforms.

Please know that we try to make the decision as early as we possibly can and typically, a decision is made before 5:30 am. However, weather and conditions can change rapidly and it might happen that we have students already on buses who have to be returned home because of safety concerns that were not in play prior to them boarding the bus.

You can count on us to balance student safety and educational opportunities and we’ll count on you to monitor the communication outlets outlined above, make sure your contact information on file with your child’s school is up to date so you can receive these important updates, and have an alternate plan for child care in case of a school delay or closure.

Thank you for your continued patience and support with this process. We try very hard to not disturb the much-needed routine for our students, but also know that safety must come first and sometimes, it’s unavoidable.

If you have any questions about this process or the information presented, please do not hesitate to contact Superintendent Kate Wall directly at 517-369-3260.
