FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello Families,
We had a wonderful first week back from Thanksgiving Break. Don't forget, students do have school tomorrow, December 5th.
As we wrap up the final two weeks of the semester, we want to thank you for your continued support and partnership. Our students have been working hard, and we’re proud of their progress and growth this year.
Please help us finish strong by encouraging consistent attendance, good study habits, and plenty of rest as we move into this busy season.
We appreciate all you do at home to support learning, and we hope your family enjoys a joyful and restful holiday season.
Thank you for being a part of our school community!
3rd-6th Grade Benchmark
Before Thanksgiving Break, our 3rd–6th grade students completed their math and reading benchmark assessments, and 5th grade also took their science benchmark. Teachers will be communicating individual student results with you. Our goal is to use this benchmark data to provide targeted interventions that help close gaps and address any misconceptions or misunderstandings.
Clinic Donations Needed
The clinic is in need of donations for our little leaders! If you have any new, unused boys’ or girls’ underwear, we would greatly appreciate them.
These items are used in the clinic for students who have bathroom accidents, and your contributions help us ensure every student is cared for with dignity and comfort. We could also use snack-size Ziploc bags or disinfectant wipes to help support the clinic. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your generosity and support!

Ways to Support Your Child’s Learning at Home
Academic Practice
-
Practice skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s with numbers over 120 (for example: 320, 322, 324, 326…).
-
Use flash cards for sight words, alphabet letters, and math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
-
Create vocabulary flash cards to reinforce new words in science and social studies.
-
Encourage your child to read daily—the more they read, the more they grow!
Tech Tools for Learning
-
Explore Progress Learning, BrainPOP, Khan Academy, IXL, Zearn, and ABCMouse for engaging online practice in all core subjects (and even Spanish!). These are great for reinforcing classroom concepts or providing extra review when a topic feels challenging.
Hands-On & Non-Tech Options
-
Try fun logic and reasoning games like Brain Cheeser to build spatial thinking skills.
-
Use the Accelerate Learning “Science at Home” activities to extend science learning through simple, hands-on experiments.
Make Learning Part of Everyday Life
-
Keep a small learning box in the car stocked with books, flash cards, and a journal for writing or drawing during downtime.
-
Encourage your child to write daily—stories, journal entries, or reflections about what they’ve learned.
The goal is to make learning engaging, consistent, and part of your family’s daily routine!
Arrival Reminders
To help our morning arrival run smoothly and safely:
-
Do not drop your child off before 7:15 AM. Students are not monitored before this time—it’s unsafe and often cold.
-
Arrival runs from 7:15–7:40 AM.
-
Tardies begin at 7:45 AM.
-
Please stay in your car during drop-off.
-
Make sure your child is ready to exit quickly with their backpack and belongings.
-
Stop at the stop sign and follow all staff directions.
-
Be aware of other drivers and students walking in the area.
-
Keep the line moving so everyone can get to class on time.
Thank you for helping us keep arrival safe, smooth, and on schedule!
From Nurse Washington
Bzzzz… Did you know that for many, December marks a season of giving?
Unfortunately, sometimes people give gifts—and sometimes they give germs! With that in mind, December is a great time to consider getting your flu shot if you haven’t already.
Remember, proper handwashing is the most effective way to prevent the spread of infection.
As you shop for the holidays, please make sure gifts are age-appropriate and that children are supervised during play. Accidents are the leading cause of injury among children, and we want to keep our young leaders safe and healthy this season!

DEVELOPING LEADERS AT LSRO
Weekly I Will Statements
During morning announcements, we will focus on one LifeLeader Attribute each week and learn what we need to do to develop each attribute so that we can become effective leaders in our school and in our community. We encourage students and families to memorize these statements together and talk about how the attribute is exhibited at home, school and work. We will share the I Will statement in the weekly newsletter and on our campus Facebook page. We look forward to hearing how students are exhibiting the attributes at school and home. LifeLeader School Rules - Growing Leaders of Character
LifeLeader School Rules - Growing Leaders of Character
During the first six weeks of school, we’re introducing our LifeLeader School Rules to help students grow as leaders of strong character. Every two weeks, we’ll focus on one of the three school rules, reinforcing positive behaviors that support our mission.
We invite you to partner with us by asking your child how they are demonstrating these school rules both at school and at home.
