PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Thursday, June 4th
After an amazing week filled of fun I will keep this short and sweet! THANK YOU to everyone who volunteered at field day this past week, our PTA for organizing a fantastic "Storm Science" assembly on Tuesday and for the delicious KONA Ice today and to everyone who came out to "Clap Out" our amazing 5th Graders!
I wish all our Panthers their families a safe, fun and relaxing summer! Panthers - remember the Big 3 this summer - Be Safe, Be Ready, Be Mindful and enjoy every minute of it!
I can't wait to see everyone and hear all your amazing summer stories on THURSDAY, AUGUST 20th! We will miss you!
Enjoy your summer!
Ellie Chin
FIELD DAY FUN (NEW POST!)
What a fantastic field day we had on Tuesday! Thank you to Mrs. Rabinowitz for all the hard work and organization she puts into this day! It is no small feat to orchestrate this event, and she manages to make it look easy every year! Thank you to all the parent volunteers for sharing their time with us to make sure this event is always a success, and special thanks to Renee Klues and William Boylan, the PTA Committee Chairs for Field Day. We appreciate everyone's help!
To celebrate our "Pack the Piggies" fundraising goal being met, our amazing stable of fantastic inflatable animals came out of the barn to run a fun relay race! Everyone was a winner - especially the students who are always so entertained by this race! Thank you to every staff member who volunteered!
SUMMER READING! (ONGOING POST!)
Patton Panthers here is a list of some cool reads to keep you reading this summer.
Also, AHML would like to promote their summer reading program. Check it out HERE!

D25 3rd-5th grade book slideshow
As you read your books this summer, snap a picture of you and the rubber duck you got from the LMC! You and your duck could be reading next to a pool, a waterfall, a rollercoaster or just chilling at home! We can't wait to see all the places the rubber ducks will go (and the amazing books you're reading!) this summer!
Share your photos with shemmer@sd25.org!
SUMMER MATH FUN (NEW POST!)
In addition to participating in the AHML Summer Reading Program and reading some of the books listed above we hope that our panthers will also spend time counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing this summer! Please help your children see math wherever they encounter it and pose questions to spark their mathematical thinking! All 3rd - 5th graders will continue to have access to IXL over the entire summer and Zearn will be available until June 30th for all Kindergarten through 5th grade students who might be interested in using these tools. We also encourage playing math games to keep our panthers thinking about numbers throughout the summer.
Please visit this link to find a variety of games you can play with a deck of cards.
Please visit this link to find other games your family may enjoy playing that also incorporate math concepts and skills.
SUMMER OFFICE HOURS (NEW POST!)
25-26 YEARBOOKS COMING HOME (NEW POST!)
Patton Students will be bringing their yearbooks home this week. If you did not order a Yearbook but would still like to receive one, you can order here: https://www.treering.com/purchase?PassCode=1014110707661184. These will be delivered directly to your home over the summer.
FAREWELL 5th GRADE (NEW POST!)
I wish all our 5th Graders well as they begin their new adventure at Thomas Middle School! As sad as it is to see them leave, I know they're ready to fly and will enjoy becoming Timberwolves! Thank you to all of our amazing staff, and especially our 5th Grade teachers for ensuring our Panthers are ready for middle school!
GOOD LUCK!
STUDENTS NOT RETURNING TO PATTON FOR 26-27 SCHOOL YEAR (ONGOING POST!)
As we continue planning for the 2026 - 2027 school year, it will help us to know if your student (currently in Kindergarten - 4th Grade) will not be returning to Patton. Please complete one form for each student by clicking HERE. Please do NOT complete this form if you have a 5th grader going to Thomas in the fall.
Please contact Mrs. Dunning in the office if you have any questions. Thank you so much!
INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM UPDATE (UPDATED POST!)
Please accept our HUGE apologies for the broken link in last week's newsletter! The attachment below will work for anyone interested in reviewing the information provided at the PTA meeting last week! Thank you to everyone who joined Dr. Brian Kaye, Superintendent, and Mrs. Diane Kaffka, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, for the presentation of the Instructional Program. The overview included information about the district-wide program, our implementation plans for Patton Elementary School, and how our students and staff will be supported. We look forward to this exciting addition to our school community. Please click on the attached pdf to see the presentation.
FUTURE BAND OPPORTUNITIES AT PATTON (ONGOING POST!)
This week, the whole school enjoyed a concert by the Patton Beginning Band! Students in D25 begin their band experience in fifth grade. There are many instruments from which students may choose. There is no requirement for previous musical experience for most instruments, but if a student wishes to learn percussion (drums, mallets, bells, etc.), there is a requirement that the student must first have 2 years of formal piano or drum lessons. More information about this and all the instruments offered in fifth grade and beyond may be found here: Elementary Band Information
THOMAS MIDDLE SCHOOL - 5th GRADE MIXER POOL PARTY (ONGOING POST!)
The PTA needs volunteers for the upcoming pool party which is being held at The River Trails Pool 1500 E. Euclid Ave. Mt. Prospect on Saturday, August 22nd at 7pm. This is such an exciting event for our incoming students to meet new friends, build connections, and kick off the school year together.
Lifeguards will be on site throughout the event, but we do need parent volunteers to help support check in, supervision, and overall event flow to ensure everything runs smoothly and safely. In order to safely host the pool party, we need at least one volunteer for every 10 kids attending. If we do not have enough volunteers committed ahead of time, we may unfortunately have to limit attendance. Volunteers would mainly be helping supervise the event, assist with snacks and crafts, and help everything run smoothly throughout the evening.
Thank you for helping make this a fun and memorable night for our kids!
REGISTRATION FOR 26-27 SCHOOL YEAR IS OPEN! (Ongoing POST!)
