Minnesota’s Permanent School Fund
Over the next several weeks, you may hear more about Minnesota’s Permanent School Fund and a related constitutional amendment that will appear on the November ballot. But what exactly is the Permanent School Fund? The fund has a long history in Minnesota and was established to provide an ongoing source of financial support for public education. Revenue generated from Minnesota’s School Trust Lands and investments helps grow the fund, with earnings distributed to public school districts across the state. As Election Day approaches, we’ll be sharing information to help our community better understand the fund, how it supports Minnesota schools and what the proposed amendment would change.

Summer Reading Wrap Up
Lakeside Elementary students turned the page on another fantastic summer of reading! Readers gathered for our annual group photo and prize celebration to recognize everyone who completed their summer reading trackers. Thank you to our students, families, and community for supporting a love of reading all summer long!
Fidgets vs toys
We are asking families to please keep squishies and similar fidget toys at home. These items can become distracting during the school day and can interfere with learning.
If a student has an identified need for a fidget, we have a variety of school-approved, classroom-friendly fidgets available to support individual student needs.
If a student does bring a squishy or similar toy to school, it is required to remain in their backpack at all times and should not be used during the school day.
We also ask that students do not trade, share, sell, or give squishies or toys to other students at school. This helps us maintain a consistent and focused learning environment for everyone.
If a student brings a squishy or toy to school and it is taken, lost, misplaced, damaged, or otherwise goes missing, the school is not responsible for the item. We encourage students to leave these items at home to help prevent them from becoming lost or creating concerns at school.
Thank you for your help and support!
