ELA News
We are continuing our journey through Unit 2, Recipe for Success! Last week, we began exploring what it takes to achieve success. This week, students will continue building their reading and writing skills as they learn to identify important information, select strong text evidence, and explain how different “ingredients” contribute to success.
As we move through Unit 2, students will gradually take more ownership of their learning by practicing these skills with greater independence.
Monday- Wednesday Reading Workshop -Text 2:The Theory and Power Behind Goal Setting
Thursday Writing Workshop - Students will use their Evidence Tracker to connect an ingredient for success to text evidence and explain why it matters
Friday Unit 2 Independent Reading Bingo!
We will continue our daily grammar practice with adjectives. Students will practice identifying and using adjectives to make their descriptions more specific.

Measuring Tools & Virtual Lab
Students have been practicing precision and accuracy with measurement tools through an interactive virtual lab. They recorded observations and calculations while keeping their science notebooks organized as personal learning references.
Atomic Structure & The Periodic Table
We explored subatomic particles—protons, neutrons, and electrons. Students learned how to calculate these particles using the atomic number and mass from the Periodic Table to understand the building blocks of matter.
Real-World Connections: Hurricane Science
Through NewsELA and ScienceNews extension articles, students connected measurement and observation skills to natural phenomena like hurricane formation, wind speed tracking, and environmental data collection.

Mohenjo-Daro Urban Planning Simulation
Students stepped into the shoes of ancient city planners! Through a decision-making simulation, they evaluated building materials, climate adaptation, and advanced drainage systems in the Indus Valley civilization.
