Welcome Back to A New Year
Welcome New Families. We Are Glad You Are Here!
Hello Parents,
Welcome back to an exciting new year, Bobcats! Our theme this year is "Make Kindness Pop!" We aim to spread kindness in a vibrant, fun, and memorable way, encouraging our parents, staff, and students to be kind to one another. Let's be Positve on Purpose!
We believe that:
1. Children are our priority.
2. Education is the shared responsibility of the student, the parent/guardian, the school, and the community.
3. Communication and understanding among all stakeholders are essential to achieving education goals.
4. Learning is accomplished when competent and caring teachers meet the child's needs.
5. Safety, care, dignity, and respect are essential to an effective learning environment.
We are pleased to introduce our new staff members this year:
- Ms. Cayla Gregory - 2nd Grade Teacher
- Ms. Jillian Kennedy - 4th Grade Teacher
- Mrs. Lauren Miller - Math Interventionist
- Mrs. Porcha Lassiter - 5K Assistant, working with Ms. Villegas

Additionally, please welcome Ms. Elnora Anderson, who will be in the 5th Grade until Mrs. Rowzee returns from maternity leave.
We are also excited to announce that construction will begin on our Teacher Daycare in two weeks. This development will not interfere with our drop-off and dismissal procedures.
We have 1 major change this year, NO EARLY DISMISSAL AFTER 1:30 PM.
Thank you, and let's have a kind year!
How to Get Assistance at MHW?
If you have a question concerning your child, please follow the chain of command below unless directed otherwise.
1. Teacher
2. Assistant Principal
3. Principal
4. Student Services at the District Office Level.
I can't stress enough how important it is for you to send your child to school everyday.
It is so important for them to come to school. Please don't let them talk you into staying home. You are the adult and you should make the decison that school is important.
Here are some stats from last year:
81 of our students were truant last year. This means they had 5 or more unexcused absences.
The most days 1 child missed was 42
Another student had 38. Another missed 31 days.
These students missed a semester of work. They are behind in reading and math.
This can not happen this year.
I am begging you to please send your child(ren) to school.
Why Daily Attendance Matters?
Missed Lessons = Falling Behind: Even one day can mean missing critical instructions and activities, making it harder for your child to catch up.
Impact on Future Success: Consistent attendance is a strong predictor of academic achievement and future opportunities.
Building Resilience: Regular attendance teaches your child the value of perseverance and responsibility—essential skills for success in life.
Stronger Friendships: Daily presence helps your child develop and sustain friendships, which are crucial for emotional and social development.
Healthy Routine: Attending school every day establishes a stable routine, promoting better mental and physical health.
Send your child to school on time everyday unless they are sick!
