Read Across America
Core Creek Staff is celebrating Read Across America during the Week of March 2nd
We’re excited to celebrate Read Across America this week! This nationwide event encourages a love of reading and highlights the importance of literacy for children of all ages.
Monday, 3/2:
- Dress your best!
Tuesday 3/3:
- Dress like you are headed to the beach. Bring a beach towel.
Wednesday, 3/4:
- Dress like you're working on the farm.
Thursday, 3/5:
- Dress like you're headed to the ranch.
Friday, 3/6:
- Dress like a movie star, bring in your sunglasses.
How Families Can Participate:
-
Read together at home each night.
-
Ask your child about the book they’re reading at school.
-
Visit your local library.
-
Let your child see you reading — you are their biggest role model!
Reading just 20 minutes a day can make a BIG difference in building vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension skills.
The Harlem Wizards are coming back to Neshaminy!
The Harlem Wizards are coming back to Neshaminy on Saturday, March 14!
Tickets are now on sale. The Harlem Wizards game is a fundraiser for the Neshaminy Education Foundation, the non-profit volunteer organization founded in 1993 dedicated to supporting innovation in our Neshaminy schools and scholarships for our graduating seniors. The Wizards have been bringing their high-energy, family-friendly brand of basketball "Wizard-ry" to Neshaminy since 2017. The game regularly draws around 1,000 happy fans who fill Gym 3 at Neshaminy High School to see our Neshaminy "Dream Team" of teachers and support staff.
Tickets can be purchased online through the link below or visit the Harlem Wizards website and search for "Langhorne, PA" on their game calendar.
Keystone Scholars
Keystone Scholars provides a $100 scholarship to all children born to PA residents in 2019 and after. This scholarship can be used for your child’s post-high school training and education expenses.
Please see the attached form for additional information.
Technology Reminders
Cellphones & Smartwatches
Please see the information below from our District Student Handbook regarding cellphones and smartwatches.
We permit students to have cell phones in school. However, there are specific guidelines your student must follow:
- Students must turn off their cell phones and smartwatches when they arrive to school.
- Phones and smartwatches are not to be visible during normal school hours (backpack, etc.).
Parent/Guardian Review of Google Documents
I encourage all parents to consistently review your child's Google documents from your child's laptop, including Google Slides and Google Docs. We have seen an increase in incidents of students misusing these apps to send inappropriate messages to other students through the sharing of these documents.
You can access the links to these apps from your child's Clever homepage when they open the internet browser.
The link to the Acceptable Use of Internet, Computers and Network Resources is below for additional information.
Attendance
Attendance Reminders
Regular school attendance is important for your child’s learning and success. All students of compulsory school age (ages 6–18) are expected to attend school each day unless an absence is excused.
Please note:
-
Absences are marked unexcused until an excuse is provided
-
Absences may be excused by sending a handwritten note, doctor's note, emailing your child’s teacher, or submitting the absence through the School Messenger app
-
Excused absences include illness, medical appointments, religious observances, and other approved reasons
-
Students are responsible for making up missed work after an excused absence
Families will receive a letter after 10 total absences (both excused and unexcused) have accumulated.
Unexcused absences may lead to truancy notifications and required meetings if attendance concerns continue. School Messenger is also used to share important updates, attendance messages, and weather-related information.
If you have questions about attendance, please contact the main office at 215-809-6390.
Vacation Request Form
Families may request approval for students to be excused from school to participate in an educational trip or tour that is not sponsored by the school. Requests must be submitted in writing to the building principal at least five school days in advance (except in emergencies).
Please note:
-
Trips are not approved during the first 10 school days or during PSSA testing for Grades 3–4
-
A maximum of five school days per school year may be approved
-
Make-up work is the student’s responsibility, and not all classroom instruction can be recreated.
Families will be notified if a request is denied. For questions, please call the main office at 215-809-6390.
SafeArrival- Attendance App
Neshaminy School District is pleased to offer a new efficient student absence reporting system called SafeArrival.
You can now report your child’s absence in advance of the official start of the school day using any of these three methods:
- Using your mobile device, download and install the SchoolMessenger app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. The first time you use the app, select SIGN UP to create your account. Select Attendance and then Report an Absence.
- Use the SafeArrival SchoolMessenger website. The first time you use the website, select SIGN UP to create your account. Select Attendance and then Report an Absence.
- You can call 1-888-256-5072 to report an absence to the SafeArrival system.
- While we strongly encourage parents and guardians to use SafeArrival, hand-delivered notes and phone calls to the Main Office will still be accepted for absences.
Your username and password are the same whether you use the mobile app or the website. You must register your account using the email address on file with Neshaminy.
To use the phone reporting option, you must use the phone number on file with Neshaminy. You can verify or modify your contact information by logging into the Home Access Center (HAC). If you do not recall your HAC credentials, please call your schools main office. The automated absence reporting systems is available 24/7. If you report on the day of an absence, you must do so by 11:45 pm or contact the main office or attendance office at your child’s school during normal school hours.
Please see the attached form for additional information.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found is located in our cafeteria. We have numerous articles of clothing, jackets, water bottles, and lunch boxes. Please ask your child to check the lost and found for any items they may have misplaced. Reminders are being given in the lunchroom as well.
As a reminder, please label your child's items so that our team can help return any lost items to the correct owner.
