Ms. Macey, Mr. Israel and Ms. Lisette

I am genuinely in awe of Ms. Lisette, Mr. Israel, and Ms. Macey’s ability to navigate the complex, sometimes absurd, and often heartbreaking realities of student wellbeing with both professional rigor and human warmth. Their tireless dedication and unflagging patience ensure that our students not only stay on track academically but also feel seen, heard, and supported in ways that extend far beyond the classroom. Thank you all.

Because Miracle Worker is not a job title...

This Wednesday, we take a moment to recognize and celebrate our paraprofessionals—the heart and backbone of our school. Your unwavering dedication, compassion, and strength are what make our classrooms not just places of learning, but places of safety, growth, and joy for our students with profound disabilities.

You are the ones who know our students best—their needs, their personalities, their victories both big and small. You step into every situation, no matter how challenging, with patience and care. You provide comfort when words aren’t enough, guidance when routines need to be followed, and unwavering support in every moment of the day.

Your work extends beyond assisting in the classroom—you tirelessly support teachers, ensure the safety of every student, and bring warmth and understanding to every interaction. You show up every day ready to give your best, even in the toughest moments, because you believe in the potential of our students. That belief changes lives.

On this Paraprofessional Appreciation Day, please know that your hard work does not go unnoticed. You are valued, you are appreciated, and you make all the difference in the world. Thank you for everything you do!

Song of the Week

I have an unabashed love of the Canadian surrealist (read pretentious) band Destroyer, but they are absolutely an aquired taste. Mostly comprised of singer-songwriter Dan Bejar, they move through genres and styles on every record: lo-fi, disco, keyboard noise. Lyrically dense, with references to art, literature and disaster, it's my favorite Sunday ambience. Enjoy.
