Paine First Graders Shine in Musical Performance of “It Sounds a Little Fishy”
Paine Elementary’s first grade students recently took the stage to present their musical production, “It Sounds a Little Fishy.” This engaging, ocean-themed performance combined lively songs, creative storytelling, and expressive movement to share an important message about honesty, friendship, and making responsible choices.
Throughout the production, students brought a variety of sea creatures to life while demonstrating the value of telling the truth and supporting one another. Their enthusiasm, clear voices, and confident stage presence reflected weeks of preparation and dedication.
The musical was led by Paine’s music teachers, Mr. Ferguson and Mrs. Rogers, whose guidance and commitment to arts education provided students with the opportunity to grow both musically and personally. Under their direction, students strengthened skills in rhythm, pitch, collaboration, and performance while building confidence in front of an audience.
The performance was a wonderful example of how the arts enhance learning and create meaningful experiences for students and families alike. Paine is proud of its first graders for their hard work and outstanding presentation.
Preparations Underway for ACAP Testing at Magnolia
Magnolia Elementary teachers are preparing their students for ACAP Testing later this Spring. This week, they analyzed Practice ACAP data to drive their instruction!
Cahaba Fifth Graders Learn Civics in Action
Denise Weaver, Constituent Services Director for Gary Palmer, recently spoke with our 5th graders about the U.S. Constitution and how laws are passed. She walked students through the legislative process and explained the roles of the three branches of government in a clear and engaging way.
Mrs. Weaver also highlighted important landmarks in Washington, D.C., sharing their historical significance and helping students connect classroom learning to real-world civics. We are grateful for the opportunity our students had to learn more about our nation’s government firsthand.

HTHS Focus Club and Henry the Hand Visit Paine Elementary
Henry the Hand and members of the Hewitt-Trussville High School Focus Club recently visited Paine Elementary to speak with kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students during P.E. classes.
Students learned the importance of proper handwashing, how germs spread, and the correct way to cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing to help prevent illness. Through engaging demonstrations and interactive discussion, the high school leaders made healthy habits both memorable and meaningful for young learners.
The visit highlighted the powerful impact of student leadership, as the district’s oldest students guided its youngest in building habits that promote a healthy and supportive school community—all while making the experience fun and engaging for everyone involved.
