Hello, RCS Middle School Parents & Guardians!

PTSO Sponsored Penny Wars

In an attempt to help raise some money JUST for field trip support this year, PTSO is doing Penny Wars! This fundraiser, like all of them we do, is approved by building leadership and Dr. Bailey!

A Penny War is a fundraising competition where two or more groups, in this case grades, collect coins and/or $1 bills in an effort to score "points" based on the amount and denomination collected.

We are running this from 2/1-2/15. We will tally up the points mid-way and then again on 2/15 to determine what grade has the highest number of points.

We left 3 jugs in the Guidance/Counseling Office today. 1 is for 6th grade, 1 for 7th and 1 for 8th. Pennies and $1 bills are positive points. All silver coins are negative points.

So, if I'm an 8th grader, I'm going to put lots of pennies and maybe a few $1 bills in the 8th grade jug, but I'm going to be competitive and put a bunch of silver coins in both the 6th and 7th grade jugs!

The folks in the Guidance/Counseling office offered to house the jugs during the day and students can go in to deposit on lunch and study halls when granted permission. They will also set them out in front of their office before school and at dismissal.

We really hope this is a lot of fun for the students and that there is a lot of participation!

The grade that has the highest number of points on 2/15 wins an ICE-CREAM SUNDAE BAR before break! We have to work those details out with Ms. Capece and Mr. Doran!

We hope you can help spread the word on this. If you have any questions, please reach out!
