2026 MCAS Results
We're proud to share that Wrentham Public Schools did a good job on the 2026 English Language Arts, Math, and Science MCAS tests last spring. Our students outperformed the state in every tested grade and subject.
The Roderick School also earned an accountability percentile of 72, meaning it performed better than 72% of schools serving similar grades across Massachusetts. The Roderick School was the second highest preforming K-12 school in the tri-town area of Wrentham, Norfolk, and Plainville.
Your child's MCAS Family Portal letter was sent home with instructions for logging into the state website to view your child's individual scores. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Roderick Office.

TRAILS To Wellness
Dear Roderick School Families,
As students grow and face new academic expectations, explore complex interests, and expand their social relationships, it is important that they also learn to navigate strong emotions, solve problems, and manage their relationships in healthy ways.
The Roderick Elementary School, along with King Philip Middle School and King Philip High School, have partnered with the TRAILS program to help your student learn skills to deal effectively with stress, build healthy relationships, and choose healthy behaviors. These skills are called social and emotional skills. Engaging in social and emotional learning (SEL) has been demonstrated to improve academic achievement, decrease behavior problems, and increase resiliency. Over the course of this school year, students in grades 4-6 will be engaging in SEL in the classroom alongside their academic work bi-weekly.
Students will be working to build the following SEL competencies:
Self-Awareness: The ability to notice what is happening inside of us, including our thoughts, feelings, and urges to act
Self-Management: The ability to manage strong thoughts and feelings, to choose helpful behaviors, and to act in ways that show respect to ourselves and others
Social Awareness: The ability to infer what others are thinking and feeling, even if it is different from our own thoughts and feelings, and to respond in ways that are empathetic, respectful, and inclusive
Relationship Skills: The ability to initiate and maintain relationships and to interact effectively with others, including communicating clearly and navigating conflict skillfully
Responsible Decision-Making: The ability to approach problems and decisions using a model to brainstorm, evaluate, and select helpful behavior choices; and the ability to set and achieve realistic goals
In the next two weeks, your student will begin SEL lessons in their class. Students will work to develop the awareness that their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. They will learn skills to gain control over and change unhelpful thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and cope effectively with conflict and stress.
Your student will first learn about identifying their feelings – a foundational social and emotional skill. Emotions often vary in how strongly we feel them. Students will use a Feelings Thermometer to describe how strongly they’re experiencing an emotion on a scale of 1 to 10 (e.g., feeling enraged may be a 10 and feeling irritated may be closer to a 2). Being able to accurately describe an emotion using words and intensity will allow your student to better manage their strong emotions, communicate their needs, and choose productive behaviors.
Your support is incredibly important. Discussing and practicing SEL skills at home will help your student to use and strengthen these valuable skills!
To begin practicing SEL skills with your student, try this activity at home:
When your student is experiencing strong emotions or demonstrating an unhelpful behavior, encourage them to share how they are feeling using a feelings word and a number to indicate its intensity (e.g., “I feel disappointed at a 3.”).
You will continue to receive communications about SEL throughout the school year. Each letter will contain information about the topics and lessons students are learning, along with ideas for practice at home.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions.
