We are the Champions

The LHS field hockey team knocked off top-seeded Lawrenceville Prep on October 19th to move on to the finals of the MCT tournament. On October 21st, the Lady Cards defeated PDS 5-4 in a "golden goal" overtime thriller to become the Mercer County Field Hockey Champions for the first time since 1983! The game-winning goal came from freshman Caroline Rotteveel on an assist from senior Talia Schenck (who scored 4, and currently leads the nation in goals this season). Click here to read the article and view more photos on NJ.com.

Then on Wednesday, October 27th, the team dominated the Cranford Cougars 8-1 in the first round of the state tournament. The girls overwhelmed Cranford for 4 quarters to move on to the quarterfinals. Next up, the Cardinals travel to Northern Highlands High School on Tuesday, November 2nd to face the 4th-seeded Highlanders!

Full STEAM Ahead!

Members of the Art in STEAM Committee, Sara Dassanayake, Aleksandra Mondrzik, Mariya Stefiniv, and Prajna Karmaker recently switched roles as they went from students to teachers during this week's "Nature's Watercolor Lab." Participants were shown the science behind paint pigments as they made ink out of the most natural source imaginable...nature itself! After creating colors from flowers, berries, and other plants, students used the ink to paint an autumn-inspired masterpiece.
