Our semester is wrapping up, and it's time to check your child's grades. Please talk to your child about their classes, assignments, and progress. All parents have access to student grades in Canvas. If you are not currently logged in, please connect with Mrs. Medina, ACMedina@lbschools.net, about becoming a parent observer. Canvas is the best way to see your child's progress in real time and connect with teachers about their grades.

This week, we are welcoming our returning office supervisor, Mrs. Hernadez to JLA. She brings extensive experience and knowledge to the role and is eager to return to JLA. In her absence, Mrs. Cortez has been working in this role, and we appreciate the support she has provided while Mrs. Hernandez has been out.

We have noticed an increased interest in vape/tobacco products since we returned to school. Please talk to your child about the dangers of vaping/smoking and your expectations about drugs. JLA is a vape-free zone, and students found with vape products will face disciplinary actions. Our wellness team will plan a parent workshop on vaping in the next month.

Thank you to the parents who came out for the Parent Walk on Sunday, 1/11, at 9:00. It was fun to walk Signal Hill and connect with other moms. The PTO is planning our next walk for February- look for the date and location in the next Jewels.

LBUSD Attendance Campaign: You Belong! Great parents know attendance matters. Help ensure your student comes to school every day so they can learn, grow, and feel connected.

* Students who arrive to school without uniform will be changed into school uniform. Students may call family members to bring uniform items or they will be provided clothes for the day. Students MUST return loaner clothing at the end of the day to be laundered.

If your student does not have device to assist with homework, please click the button below and fill out the form to request a Chromebook. Once you have completed the form, we will order the Chromebooks and deliver them to your students 6th period class as soon as the Chromebooks arrive.

As we plan for an AMAZING 8th Grade year at Jefferson, we are also thinking ahead to the many ways we celebrate our 8th graders for all of their accomplishments! This year we will be offering 8th Grade Packages to bundle and save on all of the fun and celebrations for our 8th grade students. Package items and activities can be purchased separately or bundled together to save.
