If you missed it...REMOTE LEARNING POSSIBILITY If you missed it...REMOTE LEARNING POSSIBILITY

We have to acknowledge that weather can be unpredictable and we need to be prepared. We live in New England! I do know that the FIRST snow day with will be a traditional snow day. Any subsequent days could be either a traditional snow day or a remote learning day. This is determined by the Superintendent.

In an effort to be prepared ahead of time, your child's teacher may have sent home hard copy learning materials. If not, they will be sent home shortly. These materials should come home labeled and ONLY completed if we have a remote learning day. We ask that you please put these to the side until needed. Below are links to a school-wide schedule for a remote learning day, which includes morning meetings, Unified Art activities and a read aloud time with Mrs. Arsenault and Mrs. Pitts.

Schedule for Remote Learning Day

*Your child’s classroom teacher will provide a meeting code! Although there may be independent work, teaching staff will be available to support your child on the Google Meet during the time indicated on the left, if needed.

REPORT CARDS REPORT CARDS

We are looking forward to the growth and learning ahead in 2026. January is a month of renewal and setting goals. Students should receive their first report card TOMORROW.

Some last minute notes:

  • It is important to understand that a standards-based report cards assesses student performance against a specific and observable grade set of skills and measures each student against the identified END OF YEAR standard. If they are developing, the proficiency may come with more time and practice.
  • If there is an "NA," it means we have not yet covered that material or are not ready to assess your child in that area. Please note that one unit in any content area can last for some time so we still have a lot of learning to come! Children will be assessed in ALL areas by the end of the school year.

We are so proud of the efforts of our students and the educators who work diligently to understand each student according to their individual abilities and learning style. We also want to thank the families of Rye Elementary School for their continuous support and the trust you have instilled in our staff to provide the most enriching and fulfilling learning experience for your child!

On Friday, our fourth graders welcomed dentist Dr. Dieter Knauss for an engaging presentation on dental health. Students learned about the layers and parts of a tooth, best practices for dental care, proper brushing techniques, cavities, and more. Thank you, Dr. Knauss, for helping our students build healthy smiles!

LUNCH IN THE CAF LUNCH IN THE CAF

You are welcome to join us in the cafeteria during your child's lunch block! There is no pressure to attend but it the door is open to you if you find this works with your schedule. Due to cafeteria space and tables, we invite one family member at a time to have lunch with their child(ren). Lunch is a wonderful time for kids to practice their social skills and build relationships with their peers. We actively monitor these times and encourage student growth and independence while also keeping a focus on fueling their bodies with food! This occasional experience offers you a special time to join your child in their social world at RES.
  • Email resoffice@sau50.org if you would like to attend with the date/time. It is important to anticipate who will be in the building. We love these opportunities for students and their family members but we will always put safety first.
  • Adults must bring their own lunch and can bring lunch for their own child.
  • We do have a focus during this time...eating for energy and brain power!
  • Family members must meet the child in the cafeteria and leave from the cafeteria BEFORE we line up all the children.
  • Days for family visits are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Lunch times are:
  • Kindergarten-11:45-12:10

    First Grade-12:15-12:40

    Second Grade-12:15-12:40

    Third Grade- 11:15-11:40

    Fourth Grade-11:15-11:40
