Encouragement for the New Year Encouragement for the New Year

Dear Families,

Do you ever feel like you are a bad parent? Here is some encouraging news: the very fact that you reflect on your parenting is a strong sign that you are, in fact, a good parent. Caring enough to question, learn, and grow shows deep love for your child.

As we head into the new year, I want to encourage you to cast down those discouraging thoughts. God entrusted your children to you for a purpose. He chose you intentionally, knowing the gifts, experiences, and love you would uniquely pour into their lives. There are things only you can give your child—things that will help prepare them for the plan and purpose God has already ordained for them.

I have two adult sons, and even now I still wrestle with feelings of failure as a parent. What I am learning to practice is replacing those thoughts with truth. In 2 Corinthians 10:5, we are reminded to “take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ.” When discouragement creeps in, I try to replace it with scripture, a joyful memory, or a small parenting win. I have also found great encouragement in talking with other parents who are walking through the same season of life—it reminds me that we are never alone in this journey.

Please also know that our PreK team prays for you and your family every morning. You are deeply supported and prayed over, and you do not walk this road alone. As we step into a new year, may it be one marked by grace, renewed confidence, and peace—trusting that God is faithful to guide you and your family each step of the way.
