Principal's Message Principal's Message

Dear Boyd Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! Our theme is Better Together: Building Today’s Readers, Tomorrow’s Leaders, and a Community of Brighter Beavers. Reaching every scholar’s full potential takes all of us—scholars, staff, families, and our community—working together.

Building Readers. As we work toward all scholars reading on grade level by 2030, reading remains a major focus. We are increasing time with physical books and reducing unnecessary screen time at school, and we encourage the same at home. Attendance matters too. Scholars need to be here every day, on time, and for the full day because every day brings new learning.

Building Leaders. We want scholars to take ownership of their learning. They will know what they are learning, why they are learning it, and how they will know they are successful. Through goal setting, classroom engagement, and perseverance, scholars will learn that their effort and choices impact their success.

Building Communities. Scholars learn from their teachers and one another. We will intentionally teach behavior and social skills that help scholars communicate, collaborate, solve problems, and create classrooms where everyone can learn and succeed.

Boyd made significant growth last year, and we want to keep that momentum. Better Together, we will challenge, support, and celebrate our scholars as they reach their full potential and become their Beaver Best.

Building Today’s Readers, Tomorrow’s Leaders, and a Community of Brighter Beavers.

Sincerely,

Dr. Station, Principal

Beaver Family Reading Corner Beaver Family Reading Corner

As we work toward our Moonshot goal of all scholars reading on grade level by 2030, research shows that true success comes when scholars are also reading at home. One of the most powerful ways you can support your child’s growth is by making reading a regular part of family life.

We are excited to share monthly tips, strategies, and resources that will help build your knowledge of how children learn to read and provide practical ways to support your scholar’s reading achievement at home. Together, we can ensure that every Boyd scholar becomes a confident, successful reader.

Family Tip: Reading with your child at home—even 15 minutes, four times a week—can make a big difference in building fluency and confidence.

Pick-Up & Drop-Off Procedures Pick-Up & Drop-Off Procedures

Please read carefully — these procedures keep our scholars safe.

  • Entering campus:
    • Enter the loop from Boyd St and follow the one-way traffic flow (red arrows).
  • Keep the line moving:
    • Pull all the way forward until there's no gap between you and the car in front of you.
    • Don't stop where you see your child's class, staff will bring your scholar to you.
  • Loading zone:
    • Staff will only load/unload students in the yellow fire lane ("Pick Up/Drop Off Loading").
    • Never stop in the one-way drive-thru lane to get your scholar as it's not safe and blocks traffic for others.
  • Stay in your vehicle:
    • Parents/Guardians must remain in the car in the loading lane — staff will walk and/or send your scholar to you.
    • If you'd like to get out and walk up to get your scholar, please park in a designated parking stall first.
    • Do not exit your car in the loading or drive lane.
  • To speed things up:
    • Place your Parent Pick-Up Info Card on your dashboard so staff can spot it and get your scholar to you faster.

A few reminders:

  • Please be patient the first few days as everyone adjusts to the process.
  • Be respectful and responsive to Boyd staff directing traffic.

Morning Drop-Off & Pick Up Reminders Morning Drop-Off & Pick Up Reminders

🚪 Morning Drop-Off

As we get ready to start a new school year, we want to make sure families know what to expect during morning drop-off. Our goal is to help every scholar arrive safely, confidently, and ready to learn!

  • Doors open at 8:30 AM. Please do not drop off scholars before 8:30 AM, as there is no adult supervision before this time.
  • Once your scholar arrives, we encourage families to allow scholars to walk to their classrooms independently. This helps build confidence, independence, and self-sufficiency from the very beginning of the school year.
  • If you need to walk your scholar inside, please sign in at the office and wear a visitor’s pass. This is required for the safety of all scholars and staff.
  • Once your scholar is in the classroom, please keep morning goodbyes brief so teachers can begin morning routines and prepare for the learning day.
  • NEW PROCEDURE: If your scholar arrives after the tardy bell (8:50 AM), a parent or guardian must accompany their scholar(s) to the office and sign them in.

🕓 Afternoon Pick-Up

We also want to make sure families are familiar with our afternoon dismissal procedures. Following these expectations helps us keep dismissal safe and running smoothly for everyone.

  • Dismissal begins at 4:05 PM. We encourage families to keep scholars at school through dismissal whenever possible. Our teachers teach bell-to-bell, and leaving early means missing valuable instructional time.
  • If your scholar must be picked up early for an appointment, please plan to arrive before 3:30 PM. This allows the office to call for your scholar before dismissal routines begin.
  • If your scholar’s dismissal plan changes, please notify the office by 3:00 PM so we have time to communicate the change and ensure your scholar gets home safely. You may also communicate changes with your child’s teacher through ClassDojo.

Health Reminders Health Reminders

If your child requires an inhaler, prescription medication, or a refill, please be sure to send it to school along with the required doctor’s note. Our school nurses will do their best to notify you when supplies are running low, but we also ask that families keep track of their child’s medication needs to help avoid any gaps in treatment.

Thank you for helping us ensure that every scholar has what they need to remain healthy, focused, and ready to learn each day.

Expectations and Procedures Expectations and Procedures

At Boyd, we are committed to creating safe and positive learning environments where every scholar can fully participate in the learning process. To support this, we have clearly defined procedures and expectations that help keep our school community safe, respectful, and ready to learn. As some scholars continue adjusting to routines, we ask for your partnership in reinforcing both our school expectations and the district code of conduct at home.

🏫 Classroom Expectations:

It is essential that students remain engaged in the learning process, follow the directions of school staff, and avoid disrupting the learning environment. This ensures that all students are safe, effective teaching can take place, and no student is prevented from learning due to the actions of others.

🚌 Bus Expectations:

The bus is considered an extension of the school day, and it is essential that scholars follow expectations from the time they arrive at their bus stop in the morning until they are safely in the care of parents or guardians after school.

Please help us remind your scholar of the following bus expectations:

  • Remain seated while the bus is in motion
  • Use a quiet, respectful voice
  • Keep hands and feet to themselves
  • Use language that is kind and appropriate for school

These expectations are in place to ensure the safety of all riders. Violations of bus rules may result in consequences, including the possibility of losing bus-riding privileges. Getting our scholars to and from school safely each day is one of our top priorities, and we greatly appreciate your support in reinforcing these important expectations at home.

Parent Involvement Opportunities Parent Involvement Opportunities

Get involved by joining the Boyd Parent/Teacher Organization (PTO). The PTO is a group of parents, teachers, and community members working together to make our school the best it can be. The first meeting will be held on September 1st at 5:30 in the Boyd Library. Please come out to learn how you can have a voice in school activities, shape the learning environment for your scholar, and connect with awesome Boyd parents and staff.
