McClelland's Message
Dear Rock Springs Families,
I hope this message finds you well. After the challenges we faced with Hurricane Helene, I am thrilled to report that we had a fantastic week back at school. It was heartening to see our students, staff, and families come together with resilience and positivity. Thank you for your patience and support during this time.
Next week will be a short one, as Fall Break begins on Thursday, October 10th. I hope everyone takes this opportunity to relax, recharge, and spend time with loved ones. Whether you're traveling or enjoying some rest at home, may this break bring you the refreshment you deserve.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to welcoming everyone back after the break.
Your proud principal,
Melissa M. McClelland
It is time to sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences. Click here to sign up for conferences.
If you do not have someone to help translate, please make sure you reach out to your child's teacher to request an interpreter.
Also, if you'd like to have a Zoom/phone conference please let the teacher know that as well.
We aim for 100% participation in conferences, as they are a great opportunity to connect with your child’s teacher, discuss their current progress, and explore ways to support their growth throughout the school year.

Car Rider Procedures
At Rock Springs Elementary, we cherish the sense of community that surrounds us. We believe that a strong community contributes to a positive and nurturing learning environment for our students. Your involvement and cooperation in following our car rider procedures play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and flow of traffic in and around our school.
The car rider lane will close promptly at 8:10 AM.
Left turns out of the car rider lane are not permitted between 7:40 AM-8:25 AM.
Please wait in the car rider lane to drop off your child.
For the safety of everyone, avoid making left turns out of the car rider lane until after 8:25 AM.
By following these guidelines, you contribute to the efficient operation of our car rider procedures and help ensure the safety of all students during morning drop-off.
We greatly appreciate your cooperation in making Rock Springs Elementary a safe and welcoming place for our students. If you have any questions or require further clarification regarding our car rider procedures, please feel free to contact us.
Birthday Celebrations
Helium balloons are not allowed inside the building.
Check with your child’s teacher regarding his/her birthday procedures and preferences. Personal party invitations should not be given out at school.
The celebration of student birthdays is optional and may be observed using the following options:
Option 1: Parents may purchase an “Ice Cream Party” for their child’s class on the Friday of your child’s birthday week. Parents need to send cash or a check made payable to “Rock Springs Elementary” for the total amount of the ice cream cost ($1.00 per child). For example, if there are 20 students in a class, the parent will send in cash or check in the amount of $20.00. Each child in the class will get to pick their ice cream of choice for the birthday celebration. The ice cream will be served to the students at the end of the class lunch time.
Option 2: Parents may provide only store-bought snacks for the class to eat during regular snack time or during their regular lunch time. The snack should not include drinks. No birthday favors, gifts, balloons, or prizes will be allowed. Parents are asked to bring the snack to the office in the morning so that the classroom teacher can adjust his/her schedule accordingly.
Option 3: Parents may choose a healthier option such as sending in a special Birthday pencil or eraser that the teacher will pass out to each student during the time that they celebrate your child’s birthday.
Option 4: Parents may choose a Birthday Book Dedication to recognize your child’s birthday while helping our media center continue to build its collection. You may contact Tracy Randolph (Media Specialist), for more information at 770-932-7474, Tracy.Randolph@gcpsk12.org.
