Principal's Note
Dear Memorial Families,
When I started at Memorial thirteen years ago, I fondly remember my first "Hit the Street for Little Feet" road race. I was blown away by the community support and energy at the event! My son, Cam, was 5 years old at the time, and it was our first road race together. A few years later, my daughter (Olivia) and I ran the race together. It was also our first road race together. Those are two of my favorite memories at MMES!
Fast forward to today!...we have a big night ahead of us! I was telling Olivia about the race earlier this week and she said, "we should run it together again, Dad!" Before I could tell her that I was really hoping to just walk the Kids Fun Run, she had already recruited her friend, Abby, to run with us! So after a number of years off, I am SO looking forward to hitting the street for our little feet! I have heard there are stations set up along the way to give me a ride back if I don't make it (I think they call them "water stations" lol) so I think I am up for the challenge...are you???
Whether you run, walk, or just cheer on the runners...I hope to see everyone tonight! The weather is beautiful and our race coordinators have been hard at work to plan an amazing night (thank you)!
See you at the race!
Best,
John

A note from Ms. Silag in the Library
It's that time of year when MMES kiddos need to return all the library books they have out. The classroom with the highest % of book returns by Friday, May 30th will win a popsicle party!
Overdue notices have been sent home. Please help your kiddo(s) find their books and send them into school any day of the week - doesn’t have to be their Library day. If you get a notice for a book that you know was returned, or was damaged or lost...please just send the overdue notice back to Ms. Silag with a note explaining the situation so she can make note of it on the library database.
Summer Lending for those interested, and who have returned all their books, will be the week of June 3rd for students who are currently in K - Gr 4.
Thank you for your help! It takes a village:)
-Ms. Silag

Health Room Updates
We are nearing the end of another school year. In the next week or two, I will be sending notes home to children who have medicines kept at school (inhalers, epi-pens, etc.). We are unable to keep medication over the summer. You can either pick it up or have it sent home in your child’s backpack.
5th Grade parents/caregivers, if your child has had their annual physical and you would like me to enter that information into the computer for transfer to middle school- please send to me
Physicals:
Current physical and immunization records are due for grades 1 and 4. Please do not make a new appointment. Send me the most current and then send me a copy of the new physical when it is completed.
Extra Clothing: ALL GRADE LEVELS
Occasionally a spilled drink, a fall in a puddle or even a ride down a wet slide occurs, if each child could have a change of clothing (head to toe) that would be great.
Just a few reminders:
1. If your child is going to be absent or arriving late, please call either 526-1909 or 526-1908 to let us know.
2. If your child has a temperature of 100. F or over, they need to be temperature free for 24 hours (without relying on Tylenol or Motrin) before re-entering the school.
3. If your child is experiencing diarrhea or vomiting, we recommend that they are symptom free for 24 hours and can tolerate solid food before they return
4. If your child has a contagious illness such as conjunctivitis or strep throat, it is the school policy that they are on medicine for 24 hours before re-entering the building.
5. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ALL CLASSROOMS ARE PEANUT/NUT FREE
Thank you for your co-operation and continuing support.
