Greetings from Ms. De Hoyos & Mrs. Jimenez

Can you believe we are already in the last week of October? This school year is flying by! As we wrap up another busy month of learning and growing, we want to thank our families for their continued support and partnership. Looking ahead, please remember that Tuesday, November 3rd, is a student holiday in observance of Election Day. There will be no school for students that day, and classes will resume on Wednesday, November 4th.

We are excited to host our annual Tent or Treat event this Friday, October 30th, for our Adams Hill Patriots! We are still collecting donations of candy, individually wrapped snacks, and small trinkets to help make this event a fun and memorable experience for all our students. If you are able to contribute, we would greatly appreciate your support! Please send donations to school with your child's teacher's name clearly labeled on the items. To add a little friendly competition, the classroom that collects the greatest weight in donations will win a special surprise! Thank you for helping us make this event a spooktacular success for our students!

Families, we want to remind you of the importance of getting your child to school on time each day. Our school day begins promptly at 7:45 a.m., and every minute of instruction matters! When students arrive on time, they have the opportunity to settle into their morning routines, feel prepared for the day, and begin learning alongside their classmates. Arriving late can cause students to miss valuable instruction, important classroom discussions, and targeted intervention opportunities designed to support their academic growth. Consistent punctuality also helps students develop responsibility, confidence, and positive habits that will benefit them throughout their educational journey. At Adams Hill, we want every student to have the best opportunity to succeed, and that starts with being present and ready to learn each morning. We value your partnership and appreciate your continued support in ensuring your child arrives at school on time each day. Together, we can make every instructional minute count!

As we wrap up October, we want to thank our Adams Hill families for your continued support and partnership. We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside you to help our Patriots learn, grow, and succeed each day. We hope everyone has a wonderful week filled with positivity, learning, and special moments! Let's finish October strong and continue moving forward! Have a fantastic week, Patriots!

Red Ribbon Week is an important time for us to come together as a school community to promote healthy lifestyles, positive choices, and a drug-free future for our students. This week serves as a reminder that the decisions we make each day can have a lasting impact on our lives. At Adams Hill, we want our Patriots to understand the importance of making safe, responsible choices, standing up to peer pressure, and surrounding themselves with positive influences. By encouraging these conversations at school and at home, we can help our students develop the confidence and skills they need to make good decisions as they grow. Together, we can empower our Patriots to make healthy choices and build bright futures! ❤️

When Should My Child Stay Home?

To help keep all of our students and staff healthy, please keep your child home when they are feeling ill, especially if they have a fever, are vomiting, have diarrhea, or are experiencing symptoms that make it difficult for them to participate comfortably in the school day. Students who have a fever should remain home until they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, such as Tylenol or Motrin. Sending students back to school too soon can slow their recovery and may expose classmates and staff to illness. We appreciate our families working with us to keep our school community healthy and ready to learn!

What to do when your child is sick?

When your child is absent due to illness, please send a written note with your child when they return to school. The note should include your child’s name, the date(s) they were absent, and the reason for the absence. You may also provide a doctor’s note to excuse the absence. Providing documentation helps us accurately record your child’s attendance and keep our records up to date. Thank you for helping us maintain accurate attendance records!

Birthday Invitations

We love celebrating our Patriots and their special days! 🎂🎉 If your child would like to bring birthday party invitations to school for the teacher to distribute, please remember that invitations must be provided for the entire class, all of the boys, or all of the girls. Invitations for only select students should be shared outside of the school setting. This helps us protect students’ feelings and ensures that no child feels left out or excluded. Thank you for helping us create a kind, inclusive, and caring environment for all of our students! ❤️💙

HB 1481- Cell phones at school HB 1481- Cell phones at school

As a reminder, House Bill 1481 (HB 1481) requires Texas public schools to limit student use of personal communication devices during the school day. At Adams Hill, students should keep cell phones, smartwatches, and other personal communication devices turned off and put away throughout the instructional day. This helps us maintain a safe, focused learning environment where students can fully engage with their teachers and classmates without unnecessary distractions. If you need to reach your child during the school day, please contact the front office, and we will make sure your message is delivered. We appreciate our families partnering with us to support student learning and follow state requirements.
