Student Behavior at Football Games
Hello Mustang Families,
We know that many of our Strongsville Middle School students look forward to Friday night football games—not only to cheer on the team, but also to spend time with friends and enjoy the fun atmosphere. We’re glad our students want to show their Mustang Pride, but we also want to remind everyone that the same expectations we hold during the school day apply at school events. Being Mustang STRONG (Safe, Trustworthy, Respectful, Own It, Never Settle, Get Engaged) doesn’t stop at the classroom door—it carries over into the stands and beyond.
To make sure our football games are a positive and enjoyable experience for everyone in attendance, here are a few reminders for SMS students:
Students should stay in the Middle School section of the bleachers (left side near the end zone) throughout the game, unless given permission by an administrator or teacher.
Students should not be walking or running around the stadium, standing along the fence line, or gathering under the bleachers.
If a student is not in the designated Middle School section, they must sit with their parent or another trusted adult.
Please leave footballs, toys, and other items at home. Throwing objects, horseplay, or similar activities are not permitted.
Students are expected to follow the directions of Strongsville staff and return promptly to the student section if asked.
Respectful, school-appropriate language should be used at all times. Profanity or disrespectful remarks will not be tolerated.
Help us keep our stadium clean—no littering during the game and please throw away all trash before leaving.
Show good sportsmanship by cheering positively and supporting our team—loudly and proudly—no matter the outcome!
Our next home varsity football game is Friday, September 26. Please take a few minutes to review these expectations with your student so we can all work together to create a safe, welcoming, and spirited environment for the Mustang community.
Thank you, and Go Mustangs!
It's the perfect time to order your yearbook! Please note that this year's deadline is final to ensure the yearbooks arrive in time for students to sign each other's copies. You can find all the ordering details on the flyer below, and the form provided contains everything you need to complete your order. Don't miss out!
Erin's Law-Opt Out
Dear Parents of SMS Health Students:
State Law requires that middle school students receive developmentally appropriate instruction in dating violence prevention education and sexual violence prevention education in health class. This must include instruction in recognizing dating violence warning signs and characteristics of healthy relationships.
Strongsville Middle School uses Speak Up - Empowered lessons in Health 6 and Health 8 to fulfill the state’s requirements. School personnel selected this curriculum due to its age-appropriate content regarding abuse prevention and healthy relationships, as well as its approval from the Department of Education. Participating in the abuse prevention curriculum may help to create a greater awareness of the warning signs associated with unhealthy relationships and prevent abuse before it occurs. The content includes instruction on the following required components:
Personal safety and assault prevention
Dating violence prevention education
Sexual violence prevention education
Dating violence warning signs
Characteristics of a healthy relationship
There is an opt-out policy whereby the parent/guardian may sign a form to withdraw his/her child from participating in these lessons. If you do not wish your child to participate in this curriculum, please either return this signed form to your child’s health teacher or send an email from your parent account with the necessary information from the opt out form to your child’s health teacher, and your child will receive alternate activities to complete outside of the classroom during the lessons time with no penalty or work to make up. If you do not sign and return this form, your child will remain in the classroom to take part in the lessons.
If you are opting your child out of receiving these lessons in health class, please provide the opt out form or email to the health teacher by September 19, 2025.
If you have any questions about the curriculum or its implementation at Strongsville Middle School, you may contact your child’s health teacher or Mrs. Nicole Hackman, Director of Secondary Education at nhackman@scsmustangs.org.
COMPLETING THIS FORM ONLY IF YOU ARE CHOOSING TO OPT OUT YOUR CHILD
To opt out of this curriculum, please complete this FORM by: September 19, 2025.
Great Moments from Sixth Grade
These are some Vikings working hard at cleaning up our garden beds. We found a toad that visited with us at the tables in the courtyard.
