Week of Respect October 5th-9th
The first Monday of October is dedicated to the week of respect. Schools across the country engage in activities and learning opportunities that highlight the importance of safe and respectful learning environments. Respect is an important value to teach our young learners. Students will be taught to respect themselves, respect their classmates, and to respect staff. To celebrate the week of respect please see the following spirit days above.
Red Ribbon Week October 23rd-October 31st
RED RIBBON WEEK is Celebrated Annually October 23rd-31st. Red Ribbon Week highlights the importance of living a drug-free life. It presents an opportunity for parents, educators, and communities to reinforce the drug-free messages they share with their children throughout the year. At Memorial, our focus for students is centered on students making healthy choices. The below spirit days will help spread our message of being healthy and making good choices.

Hispanic/Latina Heritage Month
September 15 - October 15, 2025
Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities in the United States. The month-long celebration begins on September 15th, a date that coincides with the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico and Chile also celebrate their independence days on September 16th and 18th, respectively.
Fun Facts:
- Hispanic vs. Latino: The term “Hispanic” refers to people who speak Spanish or are descended from Spanish-speaking populations, while “Latino” refers to people from Latin America, including Brazil, where Portuguese is spoken.
- Growing Influence: The Hispanic population is one of the fastest-growing demographics in the U.S., with rich contributions to American culture, economy, and education.
Hispanic Heritage Month reminds us of the importance of diversity and cultural appreciation. It’s a time for communities to come together and celebrate the invaluable impact of Hispanic culture, both in history and today. Let's honor this vibrant heritage and its lasting legacy!
