ASASP Union Times
April 28th, 2025 Fourth Monday Edition
Greetings and Salutations!
Greetings ASASP Member,
It is my hope that each of you has returned from Spring Break renewed and ready to finish out this 2025 school year. With only about two months left, we can finally see the end of the road. Gradations, proms, budgets, and final evaluations are all the rave this time of year, but they also bring with them a lot of stress and anxiety. Try not to let all of the demands of the day, cause you anymore pain than you can bear. Keep your head up and your ears open as we are working diligently to bring negotiations to a close sooner rather than later.
As always, thank you for your support of ASASP, have a fantastic week.
Jeffery Parker, Executive Director ASASP
Twelve Month A.P.'s Are On The Horizon in SY '25-26
A Twelve Month Assistant Principal In Every School, Why Now?
Last week you should have received an official memo of the new twelve month assistant principal position created by Human Resources. The newly created 12-Month Assistant Principal position at every school is part of the growing pains members may or may not feel at all. Superintendent House and his administration have decided to create and implement in the upcoming school year, a 12 month position in every school based on findings from a recent audit of PGCPS systems and structures. Please don't hesitate to give us a call if there are questions or concerns that you may have, will attempt to provide you the clarity you need.
Negotiations, Lions and Bears Oh No!!
Negotiations Reminders and Updates!
The following is a just a copy of information I provided to you all a few weeks ago about the Negotiations Survey:
The results are in! They have been counted over and over again to make sure that we are clear on what you, the people want. Overwhelmingly, you all made it very clear that you would like this board to accept these "best and final offers" that PGCPS has made to ASASP. After fourteen months of negotiations, we are nearing the end of this tumultuous journey. As the Executive Director, I will continue to fight along with this board, for the changes that are necessary for continuous improvement, but I will also listen to the will of the people.
Total and complete transparency is what you will always get from me. Our country is in a period of uncertainty right now, more than most have ever seen, so I understand the caution that I believe I hear in your voices through your vote and I, along with this board, will proceed accordingly. Keep in mind this is the financial part, however there is still language in our contract that needs to be changed to create a better work climate and culture for all, as well as ongoing collaboration with the newly created twelve month AP positions.
The Final Offer Survey that you all participated in indicates earlier this month that most of you are in favor of accepting the items listed below:
A. $3000 Bonus on June 1, 2025

J. New/Differentials
- Unit 2 Only Totals: 299 Accepted 44 Rejected
We have been back to the Negotiations Table several times since you the survey to try to secure everything here and more if possible. We are almost done at the table, as the close of these negotiations draws near.
Rest assured that as Executive Director, I will always work on your behalf and ask for your voice/vote to determine the direction you want me and this board to move in. We hope to bring these negotiations to a close very soon, otherwise we may jeopardize some of the expectations due to deadlines. Keep your eyes and ears open for more "updated" information soon.

Movin' On Up!
All Aboard Next Stop New Carrolton, Maryland

In The News!
Trying Times In Maryland, America, The World
PGCPS and Maryland is subject to the attacks of the Trump Administration everyday. Please do not put your head in the sand, as nothing and no one seems to be exempt from the Trump Administration, not even unions. Is the goal to actually hurt, paralyze and make Americans bow down? If it isn't it sure sounds like it.
