Upcoming Info
Dear Parkwood Upjohn Families,
We had another great full week at Parkwood as we continue moving through October! There is so much to celebrate and look forward to, and we appreciate our families continuing to partner with us to make school a place where our Panthers can learn, grow, belong, and have fun!
π Celebrations
- Panther Prowl β We Did It! Our Panther community did an amazing job reaching our Panther Prowl fundraising goal! Thank you to everyone who donated, shared our fundraiser, volunteered, or supported the event in any way.
- Because of your generosity, we are able to provide hands-on grade-level field trip experiences for ALL of our students at no cost to families!
- And, of course, our students earned some fun along the way! We are working on scheduling our remaining rewards, including:
- π§ Snow Cone Celebration
- π₯§ Pie in the Face Assembly
Thank you for investing in experiences and opportunities for our Panthers!

- π Our 1st Annual Parkwood Trunk or Treat!
- Get ready, Panthers! This year we are changing up one of our fall traditions. In place of our past Literacy Parade, we are excited to host our 1st Parkwood Upjohn Trunk or Treat! This was an idea brought on by our teachers as they have seen how successful it has been at other schools and our previous tradition was limited to only certain grade levels and there was less chances for families to be involved.
- We are planning a fun, fall-themed celebration that allows all of our students to participate and enjoy the experience together.
- Costumes- Students are welcome to wear a school-appropriate costume that is safe and comfortable for moving around during the school day. NO fake, toy, or costume weapons of any kind are allowed. This is an important rule that could end in disciplinary action if a student brings them to school. If you have questions please email rosecransje@kalamazoopublicschools.net.
- No costume? No problem! We will have extra costumes available for students who need or forget one.
- β»οΈ Have old costumes at home? We would love your donations! Send gently used costumes to your child's classroom teacher, and we will add them to our collection.
- How Trunk or Treat Will Work:
- Teachers will bring their classes outside during their scheduled time. Families can line the front sidewalk to cheer students, just like they did with the Literacy Parade, while classes exit through the garden doors and make their way around to the decorated cars for some Trunk or Treat fun!
- 9:30β10:00 β PEEP & Kindergarten
- 10:20β10:50 β 1st & 2nd Grade
- 10:40β11:10 β 3rd & 4th Grade
- 11:00β11:30 β 5th Grade
πΆ Important Reminder: Dogs on School Property
A few community and staff members have noticed an increase in dogs joining us during arrival and dismissal, including some off leash. We love our furry friends, but with lots of excited and sometimes unpredictable kiddos around, please keep all dogs leashed and close to you at all times and remember that students may unexpectedly approach or run toward a dog. Thank you for helping us keep arrival and dismissal safe and welcoming for everyoneβtwo-legged and four-legged!
Thank You, Panther Families!
Thank you for your continued partnership, enthusiasm, and support of our school community. We are so grateful to work together to make Parkwood a place where every Panther can learn, grow, belong, and make great memories along the way!
