From the Desk of Principal Cherry

October was a busy month with our Heavyweight Football winning the city championship, Pink Out for Breast Cancer Awareness Day, the Halloween Dance, Parent Teacher Conferences, the end of our fall sports and the beginning of our winter sports, our Dine Around Nite at Panda Express and not to mention all of the amazing learning going on in the classrooms. A BIG thank you to everyone who has helped with these events. November is starting off just as busy with Red Ribbon Week (Oct.31-Nov. 4) with lots of activities and information to help students choose a drug free life. Before you know it, Thanksgiving break will be here.

FCCLA Wreaths for West

If you are someone who loves the holidays and also enjoys helping families in need then you will want to check out our Annual Wreaths for West Holiday Fundraiser and competition. Our very own West FCCLA Student Organization has teamed up with Michelle Heart at 107.9 to raise money for Christmas Wish. All proceeds will be donated to help multiple families in need this holiday season. You and your family can design and create a themed wreath of your choice or you can buy one and donate it to our cause. All wreaths will be hung up around our school for students and staff to enjoy until we host our live online auction on December 2nd-5th. Please scan the QR code to get more information and enter your wreath for our event.

Be Smart for Kids

Every year in the United States, 350 children aged 17 and under gain access to a firearm and unintentionally shoot themselves or someone else. Nearly 700 more die by suicide with a gun each year. We have the power to prevent tragedies like these from happening. Everytown for Gun Safety Support Fund has developed the following Be SMART framework to help parents and adults prevent child gun deaths and injuries.
