Dear Winthrop Families,

As we prepare for the upcoming winter break, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a truly remarkable start to the school year.

Stepping into the role of Interim Principal at Winthrop School has been an incredibly rewarding transition. I feel deeply fortunate to have been welcomed so warmly into such a dedicated and caring community. From our extremely talented faculty and staff to our supportive parents and caregivers, the connections we have built over these past few months have been a significant highlight for me.

I would like to extend a special thank you to our Assistant Principal, Mr. Aaron Clark, for his tireless work in fostering positive relationships with our staff and families. We operate as a unified leadership team, and we remain committed to being accessible and supportive to all of you. We are sincerely grateful for your continued cooperation and engagement in our school’s mission.

It has been a privilege to witness the academic and social growth of our students firsthand. Whether I am observing "lightbulb moments" during classroom visits or seeing our students engage in the diverse extracurricular activities Winthrop offers, their work ethic and school spirit are evident. The progress we have made together this term is a direct reflection of the strong partnership between our school and your homes.

While we celebrate the successes of the past few months, we look toward the new year with great anticipation. We have many exciting projects, curriculum milestones, and community events on the horizon, and we look forward to watching our students continue to thrive and reach their full potential in 2026.

We also recognize that while the holiday season is a time of celebration for many, it can also present challenges for some families. Please remember that Winthrop School is more than an academic institution; we are a community of support. If there is any way we can assist your family during this break or at any point throughout the school year. Please know that we are always here for you.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for making my first term at Winthrop so special. I wish you all a safe, restful, and wonderful holiday break with your loved ones.

Sincerely,

Dr. Maureen Lueke, Ed.D. Interim Principal, Winthrop School

Announcing Our Very First F.R.I.E.S. Book Club!

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Here is a message from F.R.I.E.S.
We are thrilled to share that we’ll be launching what we hope will be the first of many F.R.I.E.S. Book Clubs! To make this possible, we’ve partnered with Tidal Pages, who will be supporting our community discussions and offering convenient ways to purchase the book—while also giving a portion of profits back to F.R.I.E.S. For our first selection, we chose The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt.

Tidal Pages has created links for our community to purchase either a physical or audio version of the book. A share of the proceeds will be donated back to F.R.I.E.S.

  • Audio Version: https://libro.fm/audiobooks/9780593829097?bookstore=tidalpagesipswich

Book Club Meeting Groups: To accommodate the high level of interest (and space!), we will be offering two groups:

  • Group A: Meets January 22nd and March 3rd. Sign up here: https://m.signupgenius.com/#!/showSignUp/10C0E4EAFA92EA7F5C34-60967215-parentcaregiver

Green Team Update

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Happy holidays from the Green Team! Thank you to all who volunteered and attended the annual Toy and Clothing Swap last weekend. It was our most well-attended event to date! We hope you found some high-quality books, clothes, and toys for your family. Leftover goods were donated to the Community Giving Tree, Ipswich Public Library, Epilepsy Foundation, and other local non-profits. Only one bag of trash was produced from the event. Wow!!

Also, thank you to the GT parents and students who helped serve roasted squash at Harvest of the Month last week. It was a huge hit!! Looking forward to a sustainable year ahead for our Winthrop Community!
